1. Andrei Shleifer (He will never get it, but still deserves it)
2. Daron Acemoglu / Joel Mokyr: for their contributions into the role of institutions and
culture in economic development.
3. Roberto Barro / Xavier Sala-i-Martin: for their contributions into the empirical
analysis of the determinants of economic growth.
4. Avinash Dixit: for his contributions into the decisionmaking of the firm under
uncertainty and imperfect competition.
5. George Borjas / Barry Chiswick (unlikely): for their contributions in labour
economics.
6. Raj Chetty: for his contributions into the microeconomics and data analysis of social
phenomena.
7. Rafael La Porta / Robert W. Vishny: for their contributions in new comparative
political economy and organizations.
8. Alberto Abadie: for his methodological contributions for generating comparative
analysis with economic counterfactuals.
9. Christina D. Romer / David H. Romer: for the use of the narrative approach to
macroeconomic identification of economic crisis and the role of monetary policy.
10. Edward Glaeser: for his contributions into the role of cities and human aggregation
into economic growth.
11. Philippe Aghion / Peter Howitt: for their contributions into the modern theory of
economic growth and the role of endogenous innovation.
