Think Safety
Most accidents that involve product operation, maintenance, and repair are caused by failure to
observe basic safety rules or precautions. An accident can often be avoided by recognizing
potentially hazardous situations before an accident occurs. A person must be alert to potential
hazards. This person should also have the necessary training, skills, and tools to perform these
functions properly.
Improper operation, lubrication, maintenance, or repair of this product can be dangerous and
could result in injury or death.
Do not operate or perform any lubrication, maintenance, or repair on this product until you have
read and understood the Tool Operating Manual.
Safety precautions and warnings are provided in this manual and on the product. If these hazard
warnings are not heeded, bodily injury or death could occur to you or to other persons.
The hazards are identified by the "Safety Alert Symbol" and followed by a "Signal Word" such as
"DANGER","WARNING", or "CAUTION". The Safety Alert "WARNING" label is shown below.
(C) Tubing
The 368-8645 Tool Kit (CRANKCASE PRESSURE) measures gauge and differential pressure in
the range of ±0.13800 bar (2.0 psi). The meter has 11 units of measure and a differential input
that has quick disconnect fittings.
Advanced features include DATA HOLD, MIN-MAX-AVG RECORD mode, ZERO/OFFSET, AUTO
POWER OFF, and USB PC interface.

Note: The overall system accuracy for the intended use is ± 20%.
The Small Orifice (A) is for use with engines with 400 hp and less. The Large Orifice is for
engines with greater than 400 hp.
Once a reading of inches is obtained with the meter, convert to cfm using the charts in section
titled ""Charts" " in this manual. There are charts for engines 400 hp and less, and engines over
400 hp.
Operation
1. Obtain a reading of inches H2O with meter.
Note: Do Not use the MIN/MAX AVG function for this reading.
2. Convert reading to Cubic Feet Per Minute (CFM) using the charts in section titled ""Charts" "
in this manual. There are charts for engines 400 hp and less, and engines over 400 hp.
3. Multiply CFM by 60 (CFM x 60) to convert to Cubic Feet Per Hour.

Meter Power
The 368-8645 Tool Kit (CRANKCASE PRESSURE) uses a 9V battery for power. If the meter does
not switch on when the "POWER" button is pressed or if the display shows "BAT", replace the
battery.
When the "POWER" button is pressed, the meter performs a short self-test and reverts to the
settings in place when the meter was last turned off.
Fittings Connection
Connect tubing to the P1 (3), P2 (1) (or both) input ports. If both inputs are used (differential
mode), the meter displays a positive pressure reading if the P1 (3) pressure is greater than P2 (1)
and a negative reading if P2 (1) is greater than P1 (3) .
Zero Adjust and Offset function
To ZERO the meter, before use and without fittings attached to the meter, press and hold the
"HOLD/ZERO" (9) button for 3 seconds or until the display shows all zeros (0000) then "0.00".
To OFFSET meter readings: Press the "DIF" (7) button while taking a measurement. Subsequent
readings will represent the difference between the current measurement and the measurement
that was on the display when the "DIF" (7) button was pressed.
Press the "RECORD" (8) button once. The "REC" (17) indicator will appear on the display and
the displayed elapsed timer will start (HH:MM:SS format [hours:minutes:seconds]).
Press the "RECORD" (8) button again to view the highest "MAX" reading recorded since the
"RECORD" (8) button was first pressed. The "MAX" (18) indicator and maximum reading will
appear on the display. The "Elapsed Timer" (21) will show the time of the "MAX" event.
Press the "RECORD" (8) button again, the "MIN" (18) indicator and the minimum value will
appear on the display. The elapsed timer will show the time of the "MIN" event.
Press the "RECORD" (8) button again, the "AVG" (18) indicator and the average value will
appear on the display. The elapsed timer will continue to run.
To return to normal operation, press and hold the "RECORD" (8) button until the display
indicators "REC", "MAX", and so on, switch off.
Note: In the "RECORD" (8) mode, the "BACKLIGHT" (10) and the "POWER" (11) buttons are the
only available functions.
USB PC Interface
The meter has a built-in USB PC (5) port for use with the Manometer Data Acquisition software.
The software allows the user to view, save, export, and print readings from the 368-8645 Tool Kit
(CRANKCASE PRESSURE). Refer to the documentation included with the software for complete
details.
1. Open the battery compartment by sliding the meter rear panel in the direction of the
embossed arrow.
