Rosa Parks

Born in Tuskegee, Alabama, on


February 4th, 1913.

The moviment
From 1913 to 1955, the ideology
of white supremacy and racial
segregation, known as "Jim
Crow", prevailed in the United
States. This ideology espoused a
belief in the superiority of the
white race and promoted
discrimination and segregation of
black people in all aspects of life,
including racial violence,
education, transportation,
housing, employment and public
spaces, and was implemented

States.
Rosa Parks was born on
February 4th 1913, in
Tuskegee, Alabama. Her
parents were James McCauley
and Leona Edward, African,
American native, Scottish and
Irish descent. She married
Raymond Parks in 1932. She
was a prominent civil rights
activist, and worked as a
dressmaker and secretary,
she died on October 24th
2005, in Detroit, Michigan.
Why is she important to
history?
Her most famous act occurred on
December 1th 1955, when she
refused to give up his seat on a
public bus to a white man in
Montgomery, Alabama. This action
sparked the Montgomery Bus
Boycott, led by Martin Luther King
Jr. that lasted 381 days and led the
Supreme Court to declare
segregation in public transportation
unconstitutional. This event marked
a milestone in the struggle for racial
equality in the United States. She
said that never grow weary of doing
good, even when it seems useless.
