★ If a chainless standing double crochet isn’t working for you: Ch 3, count as a DC.
★ If you live somewhere that is a bit warmer than where I reside (Saskatchewan, Canada),
cotton yarn will breathe a lot better than acrylic for this bulky venture!
★ Bernat Tweeds in Caramel makes a perfectly scrumptious choice for the main body!
★ This is meant to be baggy-ish. If you want the sweater to be more fitted, just go down a
size or two.
★ If you don’t want the cowl portion to be permanently face covering, do 8 rounds and
move on to R41. You can make a cowl do go with it later by following R1-40.
★ For a custom sleeve measurement: Measure From your knuckle to your shoulder. We
want a little bit baggy because it will add to the aesthetic!
★ To make this hoodie into a full length costume is easy! Just add some increases at
random intervals, as many or little as you like (he is a little lumpy, am I right?) and go
until it reaches the floor. After you reach the knees, decreasing instead of increasing
would be wise to attribute to his round tum. Add some buttons at the bottom between
the legs!
★ If you hate counting, like most people [myself included], I have included a TLDR (too
long, didn’t read) throughout for a simpler version of what you need to do when
numbers can be fudged a little bit.

**Line up the stitches on the bottom of the hood and cowl together. Pin them together
if you like, with safety pins. You’ll crochet the black piece into the inside of the hood
stitch for stitch! This will help it to sit on your shoulders and be a warm cowl for your
face and a way to keep the “costume” looking proper for photos!**

Remember to stuff your spider as you go. You can place some small rocks in there to add
weight so you don’t have unwanted pointing happening at the top of the hood. That’s what I
did.

Details
Using black you can do some detailing! Up and down the sides of the hoodie, you’ll want to
slip stitch to get the wraith’s seams. If you want him to have a more sewn together look, you
can drop some spike stitches opposite of each other here and there! This is also when I would
attach the spider, because I despise sewing. SO, CH14 from the tip of his head, and slip stitch
2 into the spider’s body. Now from here, you will *CH 13, HDC back, SL ST 2 and repeat from *

3 more times. SL ST 2 more times and then repeat from * to * 4 times, SL ST 2 more times
and ten you should be doing another 14SL ST up the original CH to get back to the top of the
wraith’s head. If you look at the pictures in the photo guide, I tried to show how I did this. If
this still isn’t clear, please message me!

When sewing the eyes on, make sure you stretch the fabric that you made all weird and
lumpy with the TC and try to sew it in the middle.and use the leftover tail to pinch the brow
over to add the furrowed look. Again, please reference the photo guide and if this is unclear,
message me.
