HALLOWEEN

Halloween is a holiday that is celebrated in America on 31 October of each year.

People enjoy it because of its decorations, costumes, candy and treats.
Before Halloween, many people carve a design into an orange pumpkin. Then, a lit
candle is typically put inside a pumpkin to make it Jack-O-Lantern. At night, this
design lights up in the darkness.
Some people celebrate Halloween by putting decorations in their houses of
supernatural figures, including vampires, ghosts, werewolves, zombies, bugs,
spiders, cobwebs, gravestones, and anything else that can be considered creepy or
scary.
Only some adults celebrate Halloween by going to parties. Most of the children
dress in costume and walk from door to door in search of candy—a practice
known as trick or treat—on Halloween. After knocking on a door, one says, "Trick
or Treat" and receives candy.
Sugar Cookies
Sugar cookies are popular in December. Sugar cookies are made with flour,
powdered sugar, butter, eggs, baking soda, and vanilla. The cookie dough is rolled
flat and cut with cookie cutters. Popular shapes are stars, snowmen, candy canes,
and angels. The cookies are baked in a 350-degree oven for about 8 minutes. After
the cookies cool, they are decorated with colored frosting, sprinkles, and small
pieces of candy. People put their cookies on pretty plates or in baskets. They take
their cookies to work or to school and share them with their friends.

The swimmer
Karen is on the swim team at school. She is a good swimmer. All the swimmers on
the swim team are good swimmers. She swims every day. She goes to the
pool after her last English class. After class she walks over to the pool and changes
into her swimsuit. She dives into the water and swims for two hours. Her couch
watches her swim and tells her how to do it better.
