ASSIGNMENT 1.1
Directions: Read and analyze each problem carefully, solve and
answer the questions that follow.
The solution is needed to earn points. (5 pts each).

1.) 150 college freshmen were interviewed.

85 were registered for a Math class,
70 were registered for an English class,
50 were registered for both Math and English.

a) How many signed up only for a Math Class? 35

b) How many signed up only for an English Class? 20
c) How many signed up for Math or English? 105
d) How many signed up neither for Math nor English? 45

MATH = 85-50 X=3 A + B +(A ∩ B)

=35 =35+20+50
=105

ENGLISH= 70-50 X= 150-105

=20 =45
ASSIGNMENT 1.1

2.) 100 students were interviewed.

28 took PE, 31 took BIO, 42 took ENG,
9 took PE and BIO, 10 took PE and ENG, 6 took BIO and ENG,
4 took all three subjects.

a) How many students took none of the three subjects? 20

b) How many students took PE but not BIO or ENG? 13
c) How many students took BIO and PE but not ENG? 5

A= PE 1.X=100-80
B=BIO =20
C=ENG 2. 13

A B=9-4=5 3. 5

B C=6-4=2 C = 42-(2+4+6)

A C=10-4=6 =42-12
SOLVE =30
A = 28-(5+4+6) ALL=80
=28-15
=13
B = 31-(5+4+2)
=31-11
=20
ASSIGNMENT 2.1

I. Find the first three terms of the sequence whose nth term is
given by the formula. Show the solution and upload it here.

An= n - 1 An= n - 1 An= n - 1

A1 = 1 - 1 A2 = 2 - 1 A3 = 3 - 1
A1= 0 A2= 1 A3= 2

An= 1 / n+1 An= 1 / n+1 An= 1 / n+1

=1/1+1 =1/2+1 =1/3+1
=1/1 =1/3 =1/4

An= 4n / n+2 An= 4n / n+2 An= 4n / n+2

= 4/3 = 4(2)/2+2 = 4(3)/3+2
=8/4 =12/8
=2 =3/2
ASSIGNMENT 2.1

I. Find the first three terms of the sequence whose nth term is
given by the formula. Show the solution and upload it here.

An= 3^n + 4 An= 3^n + 4 An= 3^n + 4

=3^1 +4 =3^2 +4 =3^3+4
=7 =9 + 4 =27 + 4
=13 =31

An= 2n - 3 An= 2n - 3 An= 2n - 3

=2(1) - 3 =2(2) - 3 =2(3) - 3
= -2 = 4-3 = 6-3
=1 =3
