OBJECTIVE
Standardize the technique for opening sterile
disposable clothing packages used in
cardiovascular procedures, reducing the
possibility of contamination.

METHODS FOR OPENING DISPOSABLE

PACKAGES
Open technique (manual with or without gloves /
Transfer clamp)
Closed technique (Placement of gloves and
sterile gowns)

PRECAUTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Sterility verification / Package status / Check
package name and verify if it is correct /
Check expiration date / Ensure hand washing
and sanitation.

1. Place the package on a dry, clean surface

2. Pierce the package at one end

4. Put on sterile gloves (open technique)

6. Open from right to left (top to bottom)

7. Verify sterility by removing the chemical indicator.

8. Place the contents of the package in the lower

10. Regularize the edges of the package with two
mosquito tweezers.

CIRCULATION OF DEVICES
Each of the medical devices necessary for the
surgical procedure is circulated in its place,
verifying quality control.
