TASK 1

have the same or nearly the same meaning in some or all senses. Synonyms are words that are
similar, or have a related meaning, to another word. They can be lifesavers when you want to
avoid repeating the same word over and over. Also, sometimes the word you have in mind might
not be the most appropriate word, which is why finding the right synonym can come in handy.

2. Litotes – Litotes is a figure of speech and a form of understatement in which a sentiment is

expressed ironically by negating its contrary. It is derived from a Greek word meaning “simple,”
is a figure of speech that employs an understatement by using double negatives or, in other
words, a positive statement expressed by negating its opposite expressions. Litotes, therefore, is
an intentional use of understatement that renders an ironic effect.

3. Synesthesia - Synesthesia refers to an author's blending of human senses to describe an

object in short, Synesthesia is the term used in literature when one sense is used to describe
another. This is a form of simile or metaphor where you use different senses to create an
interesting picture in the reader's mind and a phenomenon where a stimulus produces consistent
extraordinary subjective experiences
