The study examines the experiences of student-athletes in a third-world country, focusing on their
Sports Scholarship Program. Results show that despite their stressful lives, sports provide autonomy,
competence, and relatedness, but they face psychological risks due to short-term coping styles and
identity challenges.
An initiative is an extensively purposeful use of sport, physical activity, and play to accomplish
particular strategic priorities that not only concentrate on physical enhancement and sports abilities but
also aim to improve academic performance and community levels as well. They can use their missions to
discourse some of the inaccuracies or false beliefs that occur about education in some groups, and they
can use sport as a knob to direct youth to programs or frameworks that will assist them in their academic
development. They can also serve as safe havens for children and adolescents, protecting them from many
of the risk-taking behaviors that are connected with poor educational outcomes (UNICEF, 2016).
Filipino athletes face numerous challenges, including lack of leadership, direction, and
competence from national sports associations. The pandemic has exposed the worst of these issues, with
some athletes being frozen and without training, despite their teammates' travels. One athlete, who has
been overseas since the pandemic, wishes their entire team was there, including a nutritionist and sport
psychologist. Another athlete, who has been driving long distances in Metro Manila, claims to have been
given no plans or direction by the national federation regarding plans for the Olympics and Southeast

This study investigates the impact of athletic competition on student athletes' academic
performance. It involved 80 student-athletes from Southville IV National High School from 2018-2019.
improved student-athletes' academic performance, leading to recognition as athlete of the year and other
distinctions. The study suggests that involvement in sports competition does not hinder academic
performance but rather enhances it, recommending Project SAW for future student-athletes.
