MAIN TASK

COVER LETTER

SALOMÉ ESCOBAR ARANGO

My name is Salomé Escobar, a sensitive person that likes to share
with others and study. At this moment, I am in my sixth semester
of Degree in Social Sciences in the University of Antioquia.

My personal life is full of experiences and wonderful people. I live

with my mom, my brother, my nephew and my pet in San Pedro
de los Milagros. In my free time I like so much to practice folkloric
dance and languages, especially Colombian Sign Language,
something that I really enjoy because it strengthens my capacities
as a teacher committed to an inclusive education. At the same
time, my teamwork skills and passion to learn something new are
benefiting everything that I do day by day.

AFRO-DESCENDANT COMMUNITY OF TUMACO CULTURAL GUIDE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ANTIOQUIA

I have done some diploma courses on education and I am
currently interested in doing another diploma course on
the armed conflict in Colombia, and continue to improve
my English. This last desire is one of the reasons that I
want to apply for the scholarship opportunity in the
University of Hamburg in Germany.

If I am accepted, I know that I will be able to learn about

European history and its development since the 18th
century while I have the experience of immersion in a
different country. That one is the best option to acquire
vocabulary and get some interactions and experiences in
a second language, and maybe in a third.
At this moment of my life I know that I am good at teaching, and with this experience, I can
consider to continue my studies in the future by pursuing a master’s degree there on the
teaching of Social Sciences in schools. I know that if I seize this opportunity, I can fulfill my
dream of traveling throughout Colombia holding workshops for many children that need to
improve their academic performance. And this project could be expanded to other countries
that I would like to visit like Mexico, Argentina, or even Brazil if I am looking to learn
Portuguese.

From my passion as a teacher, I recognize that education is one of the most important things
to improve the world, and also that is so necessary to start in the house: Latin America. In
Germany I can also learn about how to be a country with higher education rates, and maybe
implement some of their vision to my education projects here.
Of course, I will always make my students aware of the importance of what some call
"intangible heritage", which is nothing more than the knowledge and the capacity to
influence others through humanism and culture.

And I hope to be very proud of it.
