Re: IOLMaster 500®

Wrong Ghost™ image file name

1. General information
During the assembly of the first IOLMaster 500, a wrong name for the Ghost™ image file has
been used.

Note!
This service bulletin is only applicable for the countries and units listed
on page 3. Only the first 34 manufactured IOLMaster 500® units have an
issue with a wrong named Ghost™ image file name.

The Ghost™ file is the data backup of the operating system located on partition C: of the
HDD. This backup file is stored on the second partition and has the path D:\MEDCOM.GHO.

2. Error description
The file name “MEDCOM.GHO” is wrong and the existing backup file can not be recognizing
by the re-imaging Service Software (see Service Manual SM 30-4053 Section 4.3.1).

Version 1.0
Service-Bulletin No. 659 IOLMaster 500® 1/3
While using the Option 3 of the Service Software Menu “Recover system backup from local
drive” the Ghost™ program will show an error message and abort the re-imaging procedure.
Following error may occur in case of a wrong file name:

The software is always looking for an image file which has the path D:\IOLMSYS.GHO. The
file name “IOLMSYS.GHO” is definitely correct.

3. Troubleshooting
Solution 1:
To fix this kind of error the backup file has to be re-named from
MEDCOM.GHO to IOLMSYS.GHO
Afterwards it is possible to perform the system recovery of the operating system from the
local drive (Option 3) and the backup file, created by the factory, can be used.
Solution 2:
In some cases the operating system crashes and the system can not boot. If so, the wrong
Ghost™ file name can not be corrected. If the HDD crashes, the HDD will need to be
connected to an external computer with the appropriate adapter, to rename the file. Or the
HDD remains in the unit and it is necessary to reinstall the operating system (recovery option
1 or option 2) as necessary.
