Communication skills play a crucial role in the academic professional, and

personal success of individuals in today’s globalized world. With English as an
International Medium (EIM) gaining prominence as a lingua franca, the ability to
effectively communicate in English has become increasingly important for students
worldwide. Grade 11 marks as critical juncture in academic development, where
students are transitioning towards higher education or entering the workforce.

students is essential for their future success.

This study aims to investigate the communication skills of grade 11 EIM students,
focusing on their proficiency in English language use, interpersonal communication, and
presentation skills. By examining the strengths and weaknesses of these skills, this
research seeks to identify strategies for enhancing communication competence among
this demographic.

In addition to assessing the current state of communication skills among grade

11 EIM students, this study will also explore the factors that may influence their
communicative abilities, such as educational background, exposure to English language
media, and socio-cultural factors. By examining these factors within the theoretical
framework of communicative competence and sociolinguistics, this research aims to
provide comprehensive understanding of the complexities involved in communication
skill development among EIM students.

Ultimately, the findings of this study are expected to contribute to the existing
body of knowledge in language education and inform educators, policymakers, and
other stakeholders about effective approaches to promoting communication skills
among grade 11 EIM students. By addressing this important aspect of education, this
research endeavors to empower students with the necessary competencies to thrive in
