ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to complete our Capstone Project; we gained valuable
insights and practical knowledge of implementation of a problem statement mentioned in the
Smart India Hackathon which was to implement a “Phishing Website detection system”.

We would like to express my special thanks of gratitude to our respected Principal

Dr. S. S. Prabhune as well as our respected Head of Department, Prof S. V. Paranjape for their
constant encouragement and insightful feedback that propelled us forward during the course of this
project. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Prof. V. M. Bande, whose invaluable guidance and
unwavering support have been instrumental in the successful completion of the Capstone project.
Under his expert supervision, we were able to develop a robust phishing attack detection system,
equipped to tackle contemporary cybersecurity challenges.

Lastly, we acknowledge the collective effort of our team members and express our gratitude to all
those who have directly or indirectly contributed to the successful completion of this project. Your
support has been integral to our journey, and we are grateful for your unwavering encouragement
and assistance.
ABSTRACT

In the realm of cybersecurity, phishing attacks persist as a significant threat, exploiting

unsuspecting users and compromising sensitive information. To address this challenge, we present
a Phishing Website Detection System leveraging Machine Learning (ML) algorithms. Our project
stems from a problem statement derived from the Hackathon 2023, reflecting real-world
cybersecurity concerns. Through rigorous experimentation, we have evaluated multiple ML
algorithms to identify the most effective one for our system. This project encapsulates a fusion of
innovative ML methodologies and robust system architecture. By meticulously comparing and
implementing various ML algorithms, we have optimized our system for accuracy and efficiency.
Rigorous testing and evaluation validate the superiority of our chosen approach in accurately
discerning phishing websites. The findings underscore the effectiveness of our system in bolstering
cybersecurity measures. Our project not only addresses current challenges but also sets the stage
for future advancements in phishing detection technology.
