area:
Topographical Hilly area with variable altitude of 200-500m above sea level, slopes angles of 10-20°, ridges are
characteristic: stretched to northeastern direction, the natural drainage system and streamflow are stretched in
the northwest direction.
Geological The deposit of silicate oxidized nickel ores is associated with the ultrabasic complex, which breaks
characteristics: the sedimentary rocks of the Matano formation of the Mesozoic age, represented by crystalline
and coral limestones. The ultrabasic rocks fill in 70% of the area, represented by dunite-peridotite
containing 10-15% of olivine.
Nickel ore bodies contain laterite zones covering the outcrops of ultrabasic rocks to the surface. In
the vertical section, the laterite zone is divided into the upper zone of limonites and the lower zone
of saprolites.
