K102 TMA 05

Part A: Write a 200-word reflection on your learning so far in K102 using Kolb’s model.

Concrete experience

I am using Kolb’s learning cycle (1984, quoted in The Open University 2023a) to reflect on my
learning experiences of referencing. From reflecting on TMA 04 feedback, Louise said I need to
add dates straight after I make in-text references. I made this mistake three times in TMA 04.

Reflective observation

Reflecting on my experiences of writing references, I am learning every time I receive feedback.

I feel that feedback from TMA 04 has progressed my academic writing further by
acknowledging I need to make sure I add relevant dates to reference accurately. I will learn
from my previous mistakes.

Abstract conceptualisation

I always consider past feedback when writing my next assignments. Comments from TMA 04
have been motivating, suggesting most of my references are relevant to the topic in hand.
Feedback suggests placing in-text references within the paragraph where the evidence is, and
not at the end of the paragraph.

Active experimentation

I will make sure I add ‘accessed on (date)’ in my reference list, as Louise said I need to include
this. So far, I have not done this. I will also place my in-text references straight after OU
material, so there is no confusion with OU evidence and what I am explaining in my words.
