For automatic air motor lubrication, install an air line
lubricator (C) downstream from the air regulator (if sup-
plied) and all other accessories. Install a bleed-type
master air valve( D ) close to the pump. Next, install the
air regulator (CCI, if supplied. Installan air linefilter (E)
upstream from all other accessories, to remove harmful
dirt and moisture from the compressed air supply.
Using a suitable adapter, install the male disconnect pin
fitting (J)in the air filter inlet. Install theair line quick
disconnect coupler (L) on the air hose(F), but do not
connect it to the pin fitting yet.
Connect a grounded fluid hose (M)to the 314 npt(f)
fluid outlet.
Valve Kit Installation (Models226-949 and 226-950
only)
Using 'thread sealer on the male threads of the street
elbow (AA), screw it into the pumpfluid outlet (HI until
tight and the dispensing valve (BB) is in the position
shown in Fig 2.
Using moderate force only, extend the pump suction
tube, insert thepump into the drum or tank bung hole, MODEL

Flush Pump Before Using


Pumps aretested with lightweight oil, which is left in to
protect pump parts. To prevent contamination of the
fluid you are pumping, flushthe pump with a compatible
solvent before usingit.
To flush pump, connect shorthose to pump outlet, in-
sert pump intakeinto a pail of compatible solvent, direct
hoso into pail and start pump as explained below.

Before You Start
1. When replacing the packings, replace the glands
also. Lubricate the packings before installing them.

2. Be sure you have all the necessary repair parts on


hand to reduce downtime.
3. Repair kits 213-012 (Leather), 215-964
(Polyethylene) and 112 (Rubber) and conver-
sion kit 213-013 (PTFE re available. For best
results, use all the NEW parts in the kit even if the
old ones look good.

4. Flush the pump. Follow thePressure Relief Pro-


cedure Warning on page 6. Remove the pump
from its mounting.
Disconnecting the Air Motor
Unscrew the tie rod locknuts (T), remove the
clip pin (Q)
and headed pin (2).Raise the air motor away from the
pump. Unscrew the displacementrod (R) from the air
motor connectingrod (S). Refer to manual 307-456 for
air motor service and parts information.
Reconnecting the Air Motor
When reconnecting the air motor, use lithium base
grease on the threadsof the displacement rod(R). Insert
the muffler (Y) into the air motor connecting rod (S) as
shown in Fig 5. Tighten the displacement rodinto the air
motor connectingrod hand tight, and install pin (Z).

ply pipe sealant to the threadsof the tie rod. To ensure
proper alignment,first thread the tie rod locknuts loose-
ly onto the tie rods, then torque evenlyto 15 N.m (8 ft-
Ib).
NOTE: Removing the muffler(Y) will increase both
pump flow rate and exhaust noise.
