2.4. Precautions for installation of exhaust system
2.4.1 After installation of exhaust system, check all the parts of exhaust system to ensure that they will
not contact with heat shield and body bottom part, and make sure that the clearance between the heat
shield and body bottom part is more than 25 mm.
2.4.2 During assembly, ensure that the clearance between tail pipe of rear muffler and body rear bumper
is more than 30 mm.
2.4.3 Inspection method for air leakage at joints of exhaust system:
After the engine has been preheated for a while, check the exhaust system joints for air leakage. Certain
air leakage is allowed at the joints (but no air leakage is allowed at joints for exhaust manifold and
three-way catalytic converter assembly), provided that the engine does not tremble and no bubbling can
be heard at the joints.
2.4.4 Installation of manifold catalytic converter assembly
2.4.4 Screw studs into thread mounting holes of cylinder head exhaust side, with tightening torque of
12 + 3 Nm;
2.4.5 Fit exhaust manifold gasket and exhaust manifold onto studs in sequence, and screw the nut on

Exhaust system mainly consists of oxygen sensor assembly, manifold coupled catalytic converter
assembly, front muffler assembly and rear muffler assembly with the function of conversing the harmful
gas such as CO, NOx, HC etc. in the exhaust gas into harmless gas such as CO2, H2O, N2 etc. by
35
Service Manual of CHERY·SQR371F Mechanical Part of 371F Engine
The working principle of reducing exhaust system emissions: the three-way catalytic converter has the
working characteristic that it will have the highest conversion efficiency when the engine air-fuel ratio is
controlled near 14.7; the oxygen sensor serves to measure the engine air-fuel ratio, and it will output
different voltage when the oxygen content in the exhaust gas is different; ECU corrects injection time
continuously according to the detected air-fuel ratio signal from the oxygen sensor so that the air-fuel
ratio can be kept within the small range near the theoretical air fuel ratio and the conversion efficiency of
the three-way catalytic converter can be improved to the maximum extent to reduce emissions.
3.1.1 Clamp the fuel filter to the fuel filter bracket and tighten it with tapping screw;
3.2.2 Fit the fuel tank and the fuel tank sling, and tighten 4 bolts M8 to fix the fuel tank sling to the
underbody (the tightening torque of the plastic fuel tank is 23±2 Nm).
3.2.3 Connect the fuel filler hose and fuel tank properly, and adjust the angle of the hose to avoid
U-shaped structure.
3.3.2 Fit the fastening clamp of the pipeline to the body chassis with the torque of 5±1 Nm.
3.3.3 Connect the corresponding fuel pipe properly. The fuel pipe with quick coupling should be inserted
properly during installation (“pop” sound should be heard). After inserting it properly, pull it in reverse
direction to check if it is installed in place. To remove the pipe, just press the two active buttons to pull it
reversely.
3.4.2 Connect air inlet pipe, air outlet pipe and vent pipe of the carbon canister properly.
Fit fuel tank cover assembly to the filler hose assembly until quack" sound is heard, and fit the fuel tank
cover cable to the corresponding hole of the body sheet metal cover.
Crankcase ventilation system mainly consists of PCV valve, oil-mist separator (labyrinth, integrated
inside the cover), vent hose, joint and clamp. When replacing the components, just remove the relevant
clamp and vent hose by the caliper.

Crankcase
4.1.1 Check each connection for good sealing, pipeline for breakage and clamp for failure at regular
intervals;
4.1.2 PCV valve is the major part during the maintenance, and its main function is to guide the air in the
crankcase into the intake manifold by PCV valve, and then guide the blow-by in the crankcase into the
engine. In the meanwhile, it keeps the pressure in the crankcase within a specified range by the
adjustment function of PCV valve to avoid the blow-by leakage in the crankcase. In principle, the PCV
valve should be replaced every 60,000 km (or 3 years). Experienced person can also determine if it can
be used continuously at that time based on crankcase pressure, idling stability, oil consumption, and
exhaust etc.
5. Use of ECU
5.1 When installing ECU, the bracket mounting point should be reliable and proper, and be
checked regularly.
5.2 ECU grounding nut should be installed reliably and the screw should be grounded well.
5.3 The grounding nut of ECU system harness assembly should be fixed reliably as required.
5.4 When removing ECU, the ignition key must be turned off and the battery negative pole must
be removed.
Before the delivery, the throttle valve body should be checked for air leakage strictly. Otherwise, the
indicators of the engine such as idle speed, emission etc can be affected.

7. Ignition system
7.1 This engine is equipped with none-distributor ignition system which consists of ignition coil,
high tension line, spark plug etc. The ignition advance angle is controlled directly by the engine
ECU.
7.2 The fixing moment of the ignition coil bolt is 7±1 N.m.

Cylinder number
To tachometer
This system has 3 ignition coils of the built-in power transistor which are used for No. 1 cylinder, No. 2
cylinder and No. 3 cylinder respectively. ECU calculates the proper ignition advance angle according to
some information analysis during the engine running, and the ignition signal is transferred to the spark
plug for ignition through the spark plug cable after power amplification by ignition coil.
Fuel evaporation system consists of fuel tank assembly, fuel vapor pipe, activated carbon canister,
carbon canister control valve and throttle valve body assembly, and its connection method is as shown
below:

Engine
The fuel in the fuel tank produces vapor on the fuel surface, and the fuel vapor flows into the activated
carbon canister via the fuel tank vent pipe and fuel vapor pipe and is adsorbed by the activated carbon.
When the engine is running, ECU controls the opening of the carbon canister control valve according to
different engine conditions, and the fuel vapor stored in the activated carbon canister can be sucked by
the negative pressure of the throttle valve body and then guided into the engine cylinder for burning by
the throttle valve body; when the power or signal is interrupted, the carbon canister control valve will be
closed to avoid the fuel vapor leakage to the air.
