Islamic Financial Analysis

A. Criteria for participation:
No prerequisites but previous experience in business feasibility study courses would be
beneficial.
B. Objectives:
- Islamic bank financing analysis is a course that explains financing in Islamic banks,
which discusses financing analysis in Islamic banks, implementers, policies and
organization of financing distribution in Islamic banks.
- This course also describes the process, documentation of financing in Islamic banks,
pricing methods for murabahah financing, mudharabah financing, musyarakah.
Another important thing discussed is the analysis of the needs and feasibility of
consumptive financing, investment, working capital, as well as the assessment of
qualitative aspects and collateral analysis to the supervision and handling of problem
financing. During lectures, not only face-to-face, students use University of
Siliwangi’s V-Class as a learning medium, in which there are videos of material
exposure from lecturers that can be played by students to review the material.
- This course is expected to instill awareness and provide a scientific foundation to
students regarding the importance of the ability to analyze the feasibility of
financing, the risks of financing carried out by Islamic banking. The learning process
uses discovery learning, cooperative learning and collaborative learning approaches
that emphasize case study-based student activities and discussions between lecturers
and students by optimizing the search for relevant, reliable and up-to-date learning
resources.
- Based on the learning outcomes of the program, students are able to apply logical,
critical, systematic, and innovative thinking based on the rules of scientific
procedures and ethics and are able to make appropriate decisions in the context of
developing or implementing science and technology that pay attention to and apply
humanities values in accordance with their field of expertise (PLO 2). Able to master
factual knowledge about Islamic economic and financial policies and regulations by
utilizing technology (PLO 6). Able to assess the feasibility of Islamic business by
applying the principles of operational management, financial management, marketing
management, human resource management, and strategic management in the
management of Islamic business in accordance with business planning and/or
company policies (PLO 9).

C. Ways of Studying
- Students are expected to play an active role during lectures. Before entering the class
to discuss the topic presented each meeting, they will be given an assignment to read,
with the aim that learning will be more active.
- The learning model used is Case Method. In one class, 10 discussion groups were
formed. Each group is assigned to the field to conduct observations, interviews to
financial institutions according to a predetermined theme. The results of observations
are presented in the form of papers or reports and presented in front of the class.
- In some meetings of this course will also present practitioners from Islamic banking,
so that students' insights and knowledge are more complex between theory and
reality in the field, namely sharia banking.
D. Assessment
The assessment used includes attendance, attitude, observation/activity in class, group
assignments, formative and summative written tests, presentations and discussions,
group-based assignments.
