INTRODUCTION

The influences of the Covid-19 pandemic on Vietnam’s tourism industry


The global hospitality sector, including in Vietnam, has a hardest hit named COVID-19 crisis. It
upended our daily lives at dizzying speed, damage to several industries, especially the tourism
aspect screeched to a halt or can be considered as virtual hibernation mode throughout the first
half of 2020. (cite) COVID-19 has triggered massive lockdowns and travel restrictions on a
global scale, resulting in billions of people having to work from home or suddenly out of work to
contain the spread of the coronavirus. As for the Vietnam Tourism industry, there is a significant
decrease in their pre-pandemic performance and fall into the doldrums However, since 2022,
after tourism stalled in the long term, some global markets are starting to recover after 18 to 20
months of pandemic-related turbulence.

Aims of this report


In recent times, large numbers of hotels in Danang are struggling to recover in the hospitality
industry and attract more clients to survive and develop as the bruises of the crisis linger on.
Alongside this, exploring new preferences, habits, and expectations of visitors has arisen
important for Four Points Hotel to understand what factor impacts hotel selection and customer
decision-making because hotel success mainly depends on customer satisfaction. My role is an
assistant business analyst working at Four Points by Sheraton hotel in Danang and my task is
researching in-depth how the individualization of tourist demand has caused the
multidimensionality of travel motives.

RESEARCH FINDING

Hotel Segment Outlook in Danang

The status of Tourism Industry in Danang before and during the Covid-19 pandemic
Da Nang is well-known as the best place to live and a popular tourist destination in Vietnam
with a wide range of world-recognized records. Moreover, by effectively attracting millions of
visitors, including domestic and foreign, the Hotel segment has become one of the pivotal
contributors to Da Nang City’s socio-economic development.
