Preface

The book in your hand is from iSMART DigiBook series, whose mission is

tio
to provide students an appropriate English programme enhancing
language skills and equipping essential knowledge of Maths and Science,
in order for them to succeed in the ever-changing 21st century.

The contents of this book will help students learn vocabularies and

ca
adapt them to many different contexts in Maths and Science. The units
outline key concepts and core knowledge of various topics from the
Maths and Science curricula issued by the Vietnamese Ministry of
Education and Training in 2018 and international curricula. Experiments
du
and practices in this book are also provided in multimedia forms, such as
iSMART Digital Lessons (iDigi) and iSMART Tutoring Online (iTO).

The book’s primary target audience is K-12 students whose English is

an additional language. The book serves as an introductory guide or
TE
reference source to basic Maths and Science terminology.

This edition has been revised based on comments and advice from
teachers, researchers and educators. Without the help of these experts,
we could never have developed such an in-depth presentation of
knowledge in this book. We, at iSMART Education, owe them all
AR

tremendous thanks.

After a long journey, despite numerous obstacles of launching a new

programme to the market, we are now truly proud of the wonderful
achievements our students have gained, both in academic results and
personal growth. Education in the 21st century has evolved to become
something much more than just teaching, and we are honoured to have
iSM

played our part in the life-long journey to knowledge of each student.

Once again, thank you for trusting iSMART Education. Let’s have a
great school year!

Introduction
Welcome to DigiScience 3. This book is the second in the series of
five books mapped onto the iSMART Primary Curriculum.
What is in the book?
The book is divided into six units. Each unit includes integrated
contents for four language skills, using the same structure
throughout.

ion
Unit lead-in

Each unit starts with an illustrated picture

and discovery questions.

cat
Word list

A list of vocabulary is displayed with

illustrations and memorisation practices.

Read and Write

Short practices contain a text and require

du
answers in written form.
TE

Listen

Listening practices improve key vocabulary

comprehension.
AR

Speak

Oral practices in pairs or small group

enhance speaking skills.
iSM

Guided structures are provided.

Unit review

Each unit ends with a collection of exercises,

a quick self-assessment to ensure
memorisation of what has been learnt.

Challenge

A stretching activity contributes more fun

practices and reinforces the understanding
of related topics.
