unintentional injuries.

Subject Matter: Dressing and Bandages

POINTS TO REMEMBER

Welcome to your third safety adventure. This will be another and new excit-
ing trip for different dressing and bandages. Bandages are used to apply pressure
to bleeding, for covering wounds and burns, and providing support for immobiliza-
tion while Dressing is a sterile pad or compress applied to a wound to promote
healing and protect the wound from further harm.

Activity 1: XOXO- Principles of bandaging and dressing.


Encircle if the statement is correct and if the statement is

1. If the body tissue or organs are exposed, cover the wound


with a dressing that will not stick.
2. Cold compress is used to reduce swelling and relieve pain,
especially for sprains and strains.
3. If the dressing slips over the victim’s skin while you are trying
to position it, discard and use a new one.
4. Place the dressing away from the wound.
5. Unwrap the dressing as close to the wound as possible.

ing and significant journey as you learn the causes and proper first aid procedures
for common unintentional injuries.

Activity 1: I’m a First Aider!

unintentional injuries.

1. Nina, a four-year old girl experienced drowning. You noticed that she’s very
cold and you suspect that she is experiencing hypothermia. What should you
