BIMONTHLY PROJECT
Topic: Fractional operators
Area: Math and Physic Subject: Math 4th Term: Fourth

Name: _________________________________________________Grade: _________ Date: _______________

INTRODUCTION

Fractions are often used in real-life situations with no idea we are using them. In this activity,
you will find some instructions that present a floor plane with some different measurements
and, according to previous knowledge, you need to solve some questions and present a
solution. Remember to write down all processes, operations, and conclusions you can find
throughout the development.

INSTRUCTIONS

First of all, we are going to find the total area of the place where you live, to do this, it is necessary
you draw in craft paper a floor plane of the place where you live, for example:

Note: I recommend you that only use rectangles, squares or triangles. If there is any part
that is not one of these shapes try to make it like one of those.

Now, you are going to measure each wall of each part and according to those lengths find the
area of each place.
Note: If one of the measures is a decimal approximate it to the closer integer, for example,
the diagonal lengths is 𝟓. 𝟔𝟔 𝒎 so, I approximated it to 𝟔 𝒎.

Using the before measures find the area of each place and the total area of the place where you
live.

According to the plane and the measures got, answer the next questions:

1) What fraction of the total area represents the living room?

2) What fraction of the total area represents the bathroom?
3) What is the fraction of the area of the living room and bedroom 1 together?
4) What is the fraction of the total area between bedroom 1 and bedroom 2?
5) How much longer is the area of the living room than the kitchen?
6) What is the difference in the area between the basement and the bathroom?
11
7) If you want to reply to the area of the kitchen times, what is the final area?
15
7
8) If you want to reply to the area of bedroom 2, times, what is the final area?
13
16
9) Imagine you are going to make 5
equal spaces in all your room, what is the area of each space?
23
10) If you want to separate the living room into 10 equal spaces, what is the area of each space?
11) Complete the following exit ticket.

The task should have:

1) The floor plane of the place where you live with the parts and the measures.
2) The area of each part and the total area.
3) The answers of each question must be complete sentence, e.g.
How much longer is the area of the living room than the kitchen?
1
Answer: The area of the living room is 3 longer than the kitchen.
4) All operations and processes.
5) Do not forget use ruler and colors.
