I. Most Essential Learning Competency

M4ME-IIIg-48 Visualize the perimeter of any given plane figure in different situations
III. Focused GAD-based Principle to be Integrated

Men and women have equal access to services.

IV. Intended Learning Outcomes
Knowledge describe how to get the perimeter of the given figures
Skills visualize perimeter by counting the unit squares around the shape
Attitude show respect to the teacher and classmates by adhering to online class
rules

Values show appreciation on the importance of animals to humans by pointing

out ways to take care of them

V. Learning Content/s Perimeter

Concept Perimeter is the distance all the way around a figure. We

can visualize perimeter by counting the unit squares
around the shape.

1. Engage
(10 minutes) A. Preliminaries
-Prayer
-Checking of attendance
-Online Class Rules

B. REVIEW (ELAPSED TIME)

1. How many minutes are there in 1 hour?

2. There are 90 seconds in 2 minutes. Is the statement correct? Explain.

3. The Grade 4 class started cleaning the school ground at exactly 6:36 a.m.
They finished cleaning at around 7:19 a.m. About how many minutes did they
spend cleaning the school ground?

4. Rafael arrived home at 5:55 in the afternoon. If he left school at 5:28 p.m.,
about how many minutes did it take him to reach home?

5. John had a soccer practice after school today. The blue clock shows what
time the practice began. The yellow clock shows what time it ended. How
much time did John spend in soccer practice today?

C. FENCE ME

Read the given problem carefully and answer the questions that follow.

Mang Tonyo needs to fence his barnyard as shown below. Use

toothpicks for fence rails and place them end to end, around the
barnyard. How many fence rails are needed to build a fence around
the barnyard?

Science Integration: (Kinds of Animals and Their Importance to

Humans)

1. What do you see on the picture?

2. What animals do you see?

3. What are these kinds of animals?
4. How do animals help us? Explain and give specific examples.
GAD-Based Principle Integration: (Men and women have equal access
to services)
5. Who usually take care of these animals?
6. Can women also take care of animals in the farm?
ESP/Values Integration: (Caring for Animals)
7. Why do we need to take care of animals?

 Since there are 36 toothpicks placed around the figure,

therefore Mang Tonyo needs 36 fence rails in building a
fence around his barnyard.
ASK: What mathematical concept does we visualize by
counting the number of toothpicks around a figure?
Answer: Perimeter

2. Explore COLLABORATE and SOLVE (Group Activity). Divide the class into 3
(10 minutes) groups. Each group will be given an activity card containing problems to
be solved.

Task 1: Observe how perimeter is determined using dotted figures.

Answer the following questions:

 What is the perimeter of the given figure?

 How do you get its perimeter?

Task 2:
Example
s: Tan’s family just
P =moved
12 in to their new Phouse.
= 10 Father
wants to build a fence unitsaround their rectangular
unitslot which
measured 30 m long and 15 m wide. How many meters of
fencing materials father needs?

Task 3: Find the perimeter by counting the unit squares of each figure.
1. Explain Discussion for Task 1:
(8 minutes)
One representative of the group will present and explain their answer.

 To get the perimeter of the given figure, we add all the sides,
1cm + 1cm + 1 cm+ 1 cm + 2cm + 1cm + 4cm + 1cm = 12cm.
The perimeter or total distance around the figure is 12 cm.

Discussion for Task 2:

One representative of the group will present and explain their answer.
 One side of the rectangular figure has 30 unit squares and the
other side has 15 unit squares. We add all the sides of the
rectangle, there will be a total of 90 unit squares. The
perimeter of the figure is 90 m since each unit square measures
1 m.
So, Father needs 90 m of fencing materials.

Discussion for Task 3:

One representative of the group will present and explain their answer.
 By adding all the sides per square unit, the following are the
perimeters of the given figures.
1. 12 units 2. 12 units 3. 12 units 4. 16 units 5. 12 units

After each group’s presentation, ask the following questions for concept
emphasis.

Based on your previous answers, what is perimeter?

How do we get the perimeter of a given figure?

4. Elaborate A. Directions: Find the perimeter for the shapes shown below.
(5 minutes)
6. Mr. Orongan reconstructed his swimming pool after it was
damaged by an earthquake. He plans to make a rectangular
swimming pool which measures 10 m long and 8 m wide. What is
the perimeter of his new swimming pool?

DRRE Concept Integration:

 What caused the damage of Mr. Orongan’s swimming

pool?
 What should we do during an earthquake?

5. Evaluate Directions: Choose your answer from the given choices.
