Read the given problem carefully and answer the questions that follow.
2. Explore COLLABORATE and SOLVE (Group Activity). Divide the class into 3
(10 minutes) groups. Each group will be given an activity card containing problems to
be solved.
Task 2:
Example
s: Tan’s family just
P =moved
12 in to their new Phouse.
= 10 Father
wants to build a fence unitsaround their rectangular
unitslot which
measured 30 m long and 15 m wide. How many meters of
fencing materials father needs?
Task 3: Find the perimeter by counting the unit squares of each figure.
1. Explain Discussion for Task 1:
(8 minutes)
One representative of the group will present and explain their answer.
To get the perimeter of the given figure, we add all the sides,
1cm + 1cm + 1 cm+ 1 cm + 2cm + 1cm + 4cm + 1cm = 12cm.
The perimeter or total distance around the figure is 12 cm.
One representative of the group will present and explain their answer.
One side of the rectangular figure has 30 unit squares and the
other side has 15 unit squares. We add all the sides of the
rectangle, there will be a total of 90 unit squares. The
perimeter of the figure is 90 m since each unit square measures
1 m.
So, Father needs 90 m of fencing materials.
After each group’s presentation, ask the following questions for concept
emphasis.
4. Elaborate A. Directions: Find the perimeter for the shapes shown below.
(5 minutes)
