Lesson Plan

I. Objectives:
 Identify the length and width of a rectangle.
 Express confidence in their ability to find the perimeter of a rectangle.
 Apply the concept of finding the perimeter of a rectangle to real-world
situations.
II. Subject Matter
Topic: Perimeter of a Rectangle
Materials: Whiteboard, marker, ruler and calculator

rectangle
III. Procedure

A. Preliminary Activities

1. Prayer - The teacher will ask a student to lead the prayer

2. Attendance - The teacher will check the attendance

3. Review - The teacher will ask the students about the previous lesson

B. Motivation
The teacher will ask a question to the students: "Have you ever tried to measure the
perimeter of a rectangular room in your house?" The teacher then introduces the concept of
the perimeter of a rectangle and its application in real-life situations, such as measuring the
length of a fence or the distance around a garden bed.

C. Lesson Proper

Activity : Perimeter Race

 ACTIVITY

1. Divide students into groups of four.

2. Provide each group with a measuring tape, rulers, and a sheet of paper.
3. Instruct each group to measure the length and width of any rectangular things
that they will find in their classroom or a designated area outside and record
their measurements on the sheet of paper.
4. After all groups have completed their measurements, have them compare and
discuss their findings with the class.
5. Use this activity to introduce the concept of perimeter and how it can be
measured using different tools.

 ANALYSIS

1. What is the formula for finding the perimeter of a rectangle?

2. How does the length and width of a rectangle affect its perimeter
3. What happens to the perimeter of a rectangle if its width is decreased while its
length remains the same?

 ABSTRACTION

The formula for the perimeter of a rectangle is P = 2L + 2W, where P represents

the perimeter, L represents the length of the rectangle, and W represents the
width.

Example:
A rectangle has a length of 6 meters and a width of 4 meters.

Using the formula, we can calculate the perimeter as P = 2(6) + 2(4) = 20

meters.

Now, consider another rectangle with a length of 10 meters and a width of 3

meters.

Using the same formula, we can calculate the perimeter as P = 2(10) + 2(3) = 26
meters.
 APPLICATION

“Perimeter Showdown"

The teacher will divide the class into four groups and present word problems on
the perimeter of a rectangle. Each team will have 15 seconds to solve the
problem, and if they provide the correct answer, they will earn five points.

IV. Evaluation

Directions: Find the perimeter of the following rectangles.

1. 8.5cm 2. 6cm

3cm

4cm

3.7m

3. 1 15m 4. 27in

7.4in
V. Assignment

Directions: Solve the following word problems.

1. The length of a rectangle is 14 meters and the width is 8 meters. What is the

perimeter of the rectangle?

2. A rectangular room is 15 feet long and 10 feet wide. If the perimeter of the

room is increased by 20 feet by adding a wallpaper border around the room,

what is the width of the border?

3. Angelo's mansion has a length of 560 meters and a width of 420 meters. What

is the total distance around the mansion?

4. John Paolo's company has a length of 6,600m and a width of 1,200m.

Determine the perimeter of the company.

5. Virgelio has a rectangular field with a length of 5 kilometers and a total

distance around it of 16 kilometers. What is the width of the field?
