SEMI- DETAILED LESSON PLAN

IN MATHEMATICS 6

Date: April 01, 2024

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the learners can:

 demonstrates understanding of volume of solid figures and meter reading;
 is able to apply knowledge of volume of solid figures and meter reading in
mathematical problems and real-life situations; and
 appreciate the lesson and apply it in daily living.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Measurement (determines the relationship of the volume between 70.1 a

rectangular prism and a pyramid)
Reference: 21ST Century Mathletes, 21st Century Mathletes 6, 21st Century
Mathletes 6, Math 6 DLP Mod. 58
Materials: Mathletes 6 textbook, power point presentation
Values Integration: Patience (in solving the volume of solid figures and applying it
in the daily living)

III. PROCEDURE

A. Preparation
 The teacher will begin the class with a prayer; she will ask the learners to arrange
their chairs properly and to pick up the pieces of paper.
 The teacher will also account her learners on who are absent.

Review
Identify the figure below:

B. Motivation/ Opening Activity

Have you ever gone to a family outing to a resort? There are many different kinds of
swimming pool, isn’t it? There are swimming pools for kids and for adults. There is also
Jacuzzi. If you will be asked how much water is placed in the swimming pool, how will
you do it?
Unlocking of Difficult Words
The volume of a solid figure is the amount of space inside it. Volume is measured in
cubic units, which means it tells the number cubes in a given size it takes to fill the solid
figure.
C. Presentation of Objective
(Let the class read your objective and use power point presentation in presenting your
objective.)

At the end of the lesson the learners are expected to:

 demonstrates understanding of volume of solid figures and meter reading;
 is able to apply knowledge of volume of solid figures and meter reading in
mathematical problems and real-life situations; and
 appreciate the lesson and apply it in daily living.

D. Discussions

E. Generalizations
(The teacher will ask the learners questions to test if they really understand the lesson)
 The volume of a prism is given by the formula.
 V = Bh; where B is the area of the base and h is the height.
 The volume of a pyramid is given by the formula V = 1/3 Bh; where B is the
area of the base and h is the height.

F. Application
Answer the following:
1. What is the base area of a prism if the volume of the prism is 150 cubic feet and the
height of the prism is 10 feet?
2. The base of a prism has a surface area of 277 square centimeters. The volume is 2770
cubic centimeters. Calculate the height.
3. Find the volume of a rectangular pyramid if the base length is 10 inches and the base
width is 6 inches, and the height of the pyramid is 14 inches.

IV. EVALUATION
Solve the following:
1. The height of a square prism is 11 yards. The volume is 99 cubic yards. What is
the length of the side of the square at the base of the prism?
2. The base of a prism has a surface area of 475 square centimeters. The volume is
3800 cubic centimeters. Calculate the height.
3. Determine the height of a rectangular pyramid whose base area and volume are
120 ft 2and 360 ft 2, respectively.
4. The base of rectangular pyramid has a dimension of 8 ft x 10 ft and its height is
12 ft. What is the volume of the rectangular pyramid?
5. Determine the volume of a rectangular pyramid shaped tank whose base area and
height are 60 ft 2and 10 ft respectively.
