A DETAILED LESSON PLAN

MATHEMATICS 7

OPERATIONS ON INETEGERS

I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

1. Identify the four fundamental operations on Integer;

2. Solve problems involving operations on Integers; and

3. Demonstrates the rules in solving real life situations.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Fundamental operations on integers

Prerequisite Skill: Solving Math problems through Basic Operations

References: Elementary Algebra textbook for First year pp. 32-42

and Math grade 7 Learner’s material Unit 1 and 2, pp.18-32

Materials: Projector, paper, laptop

Teaching Approach: Collaborative, Interactive, Project-based learning

Values focus: Critical thinking, Cooperation, Attentiveness, Active participation,

Determination

and Patience.

III. PROCEDURE

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

A. Preliminary Activities

1. Greetings:

Good morning, class! Good morning, Ma'am

2. Prayer:
To start this day, let us pray
first to honor God and ask for
his guidance. Can someone in
the class lead the prayer? (A student will start the prayer.)

3. Classroom Management:

Class, before you take your

seat, pick up the papers on
the floor and arrange your
chairs. Make sure that it is
aligned in your front chairs
and please do it quietly.
(The students will follow the teacher's
instruction.)
4. Checking of attendance:

Is there any absent from the

class today?
Everybody is present today, Ma’am.
Very Good! That’s great.

B. Developmental Activity

Review:

Before we start to our new

lesson for today, let’s recall the
previous lesson that you have learned.
Anyone from the class who would like
to give us a recall of what we’ve
discussed yesterday?
(Students will raise their hand to recall
the previously discussed topic in class.)

C. Motivation

Now, we will first have a game

called “Solve that Word”

You will be divided into two

groups. The students will count 1 and
2 to find the groups where they
belong. Then I will post the
question using power point. To get the
right answer, you are going to find the
letter that corresponds to the
answers given in the table. The
group who will be the first to find the
answer will be the winner of this game.

So, are you ready?

Yes, Ma’am!

(After counting the students will then

group themselves and wait for the
question to announce.)
So, if there are no further questions,
let’s start the game!

Who was the first English

mathematician who first used the
modern symbol of equality in 1557?
(After posting the question, students
-94 162 96 -98 -94 -15
actively participate and collaborate.)
-94 -98 143.5 162 -94 48 -98

A 25 + 31

O 81 × 2

B (-6) - (-102)

C (-287) / (-2)

D 88 + (-1)

I 63 ÷ 4

R (-33) - 61

B (-6) × 11

T (-78) + 63
C 100 ÷ (-5)

S 87 ÷ 3

D 54 - 6

E (-75) + (-23)

K (-71)(-15)

(The teacher roam and check every

member’s participation.)

Okay class, are you done?

(The teacher will let one member to

present the group’s output) Yes, Ma’am!

Okay, very good! Clap your hands for (One member of each group will present
each group’s job well done! and discuss their output)

So, what can you say about the (Students clap)

game?

Ok! That’s a very good observation, (Student will raise hand and share what
class! he/she thought about the game)
Today, we’re going to have discussion
relating to the activity that was
presented to you.
So, are you ready?

D. Discussion
Yes, Ma’am!
Before going on, let us take a look
at the objectives of our discussion for
today.
Onto our discussion, Let us
now consider the four
fundamental operations on the set of
integers: addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and division.

(The teacher will have a power point

presentation of the discussion)

(Students will actively participate during

the discussions)

E. Generalization
(After the discussion of the
topic, students are asked to answer
examples given.)

(Students will actively participate)

IV. EVALUATION

The Teacher will group the class into 5. Each group will have to choose one problem.
They will be given a chance to discuss their answers in the whole class.

Word problems:

1. Mrs. Reyes charged P3,752.00 worth of groceries on her credit card. Find her
balance after she made a payment of P2,530.00.

2. During the Christmas season, the student government association was able to
solicit 2,356 grocery items and was able to distribute 2,198 to one barangay. If
this group decided to distribute 1,201 grocery items to the next barangay, how
many more grocery items did they need to solicit?

3. Mark can type 45 words per minute, how many words can Mark type in 30
minutes?

4. Maan deposited P53,400 in her account and withdrew P19,650.00 after a week.
How much of her money was left in the bank?

5. A vendor gained P50.00 on the first day; lost P28.00 on the second day and
gained P49.00 on the third day. How much profit did the vendor gain in 3days?
V. ASSIGNMENT

Students will have to create an Integer board. Submission date and rubrics for the group
work is discussed.
