PROJECT RISE (READING INTERVENTION FOR STUDENTS’

IMPROVEMENT)
District Wide Reading Program

Rationale of the Program:

Columbio District 1 unified reading intervention program called


“PROJECT RISE (Reading Intervention for Students’ Improvement”
will provide every student with an opportunity to increase their reading,
writing, and comprehension skills both in English and Filipino
language.
Developing self-esteem through acquisition of reading and writing
skills and strategies is one of the aspects of this intervention. Students
will gain confidence and their skills will be improved through
instruction in decoding, comprehension, writing using study skills
different approaches such as Marungko in Filipino and Fuller
approach in English.
PROJECT RISE program also aims to encourage the school
heads, teachers, parents, learners, Local Government Units (LGUs)
and other stakeholders to support and provide an appropriate need of
every student. Align with the DepEd’s vision and mission, goals and
objectives which supports to the new memorandum No. 067, s. 2014
“No Read, No Pass Policy” and also the issued memorandum from the
Office of the Undersecretary for Curriculum and Instruction the goals
and objectives of "Every Child a Reader Program” of DepEd and the
SK READ or Reading Enhancement and Academic Development
Program of the Sultan Kudarat division.
Moreover, this District wide reading program “PROJECT RISE”
will monitor, evaluate and give technical assistance to the schools for
the successful implementation of the DepEd’s goal that “ EVERY
CHILD IS A READER” and “NO CHILD IS LEFT BEHIND.” Project
RISE is one way of helping the student to improve and become an
independent reader.
