CHAPTER II
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
In our quest to understand and explore the development of an Anecdotal System in Cainta Senior
Highschool, we began an investigation through the existing body of knowledge that lays the
foundation for this innovative approach in violation recording.
According to Safarzade and Mansoori (2009), a Student Information System is a comprehensive
information management system that caters to educational institutions, ranging from schools to
universities. Traditionally, some institutions relied on manual, paper-based record-keeping.
However, today, even the smallest educational entities have adopted computer-based systems with
diverse functionalities, including online access and complex permissions management.
LOCAL LITERATURE
Utilizing a system-based recording approach enables more efficient and convenient access to
students' profiles and data concerning their violations. Fenequito J. J. J. , Gagante, K. G. , Leona,
A. S. B. & Unsan, C. M. (2018).
As per Cris Norman P. Alipas (2020), implementing a Student Anecdotal System (SAS) with a
system-based recording approach offers improved recording procedures for the guidance office
compared to the anecdotal ID system.
A system based recording like the Student Anecdotal System (SAS) provides exclusive control to
school personnel for system management, in contrast to the anecdotal ID, where certain teachers
allow students to manage it, potentially resulting in inaccuracies in the recording process.. Juliet
Nandutu (2016).
Remoto, J. J. ., Radam, A. J. ., Felix, A. ., Granada, R. ., Espinosa, V. J. ., & Pornasdoro, R. .
(2020) It was suggested that implementing an improved monitoring system for guidance officers
could result in students displaying increased compliance and greater adherence to the school's rules
and regulations.
The Student Anecdotal System (SAS) also brings cost-effectiveness into the equation since
students are not required to purchase protective cases for their anecdotal IDs.
FOREIGN LITERATURE
The transition to electronic records management is gaining popularity, and many students
are advocating for the implementation of electronic systems in academic departments and
recruitment offices. This transformation entails transforming physical records into digital versions
utilizing modern technology.
According to Safarzade and Mansoori (2009), the Student Anecdotal System (SAS) provides an
innovative approach for improving educational personnel's efficiency in recording and monitoring
student breaches within the school. By offering a complete structure for documenting and tracking
student violations, the SAS reimagines how schools address disciplinary concerns. This method is
an important instrument in improving the school's attitude to punishment while decreasing the
administrative burden on numerous school departments and individual staff members.
The Student Anecdotal System (SAS) is intended to consolidate and speed reporting of
student violations, making it a critical component of ensuring a safe and well-regulated school
environment. It transforms how educational professionals access and handle student misconduct
information, resulting in a more efficient and structured procedure.
The creation, use, maintenance, and ethical disposal of electronically generated records with the
intention of serving as evidence are all included in computerized records management, according
to Johnston and Bowen (2005). These records are essential in helping to create policies, facilitate
decision-making, while safeguarding the rights and interests of educational institutions,
employers, and students.
According to the research conducted by J. Triansyah (2022), the implementation of a computerized
system has enhanced the effectiveness of the existing school supervision and monitoring processes.
This is achieved by inputting every student violation into the application, simplifying the task of
teachers in evaluating reports for the school. Moreover, it has streamlined the communication of
information to parents, making it more efficient and accurate. As a result, parents can monitor their
children's discipline at school more easily and promptly.
Based on the findings of Nandutu Juliet (2016), it is evident that there is a pressing requirement to
enhance the data collection process for students. This improvement is necessary to make it less
time-consuming and to achieve more efficient administration. Additionally, it mitigates the risk of
losing valuable student information.
In a recent article by Vlerë Hyseni in (2023). The importance of record management
systems is emphasized for various reasons. Firstly, these systems are crucial because organizations
often struggle to keep pace with the increasing volume of records, and having a structured
management system helps manage this challenge effectively.
Secondly, they play a key role in decluttering and eliminating duplicates, streamlining
record storage and retrieval processes, which in turn reduces confusion and enhances efficiency.
Lastly, record management systems significantly boost operational efficiency by providing
organized and rapid access to records, thus contributing to the overall smooth functioning of
businesses and institutions. These points underscore the essential role of robust record
management systems in modern times.
In conclusion, we explored existing literature on the Student Anecdotal System (SAS) for
Cainta Senior High School. Local and foreign sources emphasize the advantages of computer-
based systems over manual record-keeping, showcasing the efficiency of SAS in recording student
violations. This innovative approach offers improved data management, cost-effectiveness, and
streamlining of communication with parents. Additionally, the importance of record management
systems is highlighted for their role in managing the increasing volume of records, reducing clutter,
and enhancing operational efficiency in educational institutions. This literature provides a strong
foundation for the subsequent development and implementation of SAS at Cainta Senior High
School.
