Spanish AS Level Year 1 worksheets (37 in total) covering all the themes and sub-themes in the AQA
specification. They include language, grammar, skills, translation, reading, writing and listening
exercises and can be used as lesson consolidation or as homework, boosting students’ language
acquisition and honing their comprehension skills.

• Reading comprehension task: Students read a text about the emancipation of young people
in Latin America and select the correct statements.
• Grammar exercise: changing a verb in the imperfect tense into the corresponding preterit
tense
• Reading exercise: students read a text about trends in cohabitation and look for a word in it
which matches the definitions given

Exercise 1: Students read a text and decide whether the verb in the preterit or the imperfect
tense is correct.
Exercise 2: Gap fill with either a verb in the imperfect or the preterit tenses (from the words
given).
Exercise 3: Students match verbs in English with the corresponding Spanish.
• Reading exercise: Students read a text about the disaffection towards the Catholic Church
and match the English to Spanish vocabulary.
• Reading exercise: Students continue reading the text and match the English to Spanish
vocabulary.
• Reading comprehension: students read four statements and select the correct word to
complete the sentences (based on the texts from the previous activities).
• Reading task: The good and the bad things about the internet
Exercise 1: students read a series of statements and decide whether they are an advantage
or disadvantage
Exercise 2: Students read a series of sentences and match the beginning to the ending
• Reading task: The evolution of communication. Students match the Spanish vocabulary to
their synonyms.
• Listening task: Social media use. Students listen to six people talking about the advantages
and disadvantages of social media. The put a series of statements in the order they are
mentioned.
• Reading task: Basic advice on social media. Students complete sentences with the most
appropriate tú form of the imperative, from the options given.
• Reading task: In the European Union. Students read a text about the state of the European
Union. They complete a gap fill exercise with the most appropriate words listed.
• Reading task: Men and household chores. Students read sentences and chose the English
transition which makes more sense, form the three options given.
