2. Registration
2.1. All registrations must be done online at: SAJCCC 2024 Registration | Cognito Forms;
2.2. Registration Fee: R850.00 per player;
2.3. Registration closing date: 15 April 2024;
2.4. No late registration will be accepted;
2.5. Registration is the responsibility of the player/parent.
3. Payments

4. Accommodation
4.1. Everyone is responsible for their own accommodation
5. Arbiters
5.1. The Arbiters will be appointed by the AOB

6. Medical Services
6.1. There will be first aid facilities on site and hospitals are in close proximity.
7. Tournament Rating/Rules
7.1. The results of this competition will be submitted for rating to the CHESS SA Rating
Bureau. Certain sections will be FIDE rated.
7.2. The latest FIDE rules will apply;
7.3. All other relevant information will be published via the WhatsApp groups and other
official platforms;
7.4. According to the SASCOC policy, only players who are South African citizens will qualify
for SA colours.
7.5. Any player who is a None SA citizen will not qualify for the title of SA Junior Closed
Champion or awarded the invited player benefits, such player/s will be regarded as
additional players and will be awarded Chess SA (Federation Colours) only.
7.6. Players may apply to play in a higher age category however it may be granted or
declined depending on the motivation.
7.7. The activity of 30 games were based on standard games of 60/60 plus.
7.8. The appeals committee will be announced after round 1
8. Official Publishing
8.1. Only publications by the convener will be regarded as official;
8.2. Pairings and results: www.chess-results.com;
10. Prizes
10.1. The winners of each age and gender category will receive a trophy and the top
three (3) finishers will receive medals and participation certificates.
10.2. Each of the category winners will be awarded the title of “South African Junior
Closed Champion 2024”.

11. Tournament Format
11.1. The format of the tournament will be a Swiss, played over 9 rounds;
11.2. There will be no combined sections.
11.3. The Tournament Rules will be finalised by the Chief Arbiter and the published
rules will supersede all other rules;
14.1. All replacements will be done according to Rating or GPX. All replacements will
be done by the 15 April 2024
14.2. If a player (female and male) withdraws from the grand prix and rating
categories, the next highest placed player on the grand prix and rating list as at
30 September 2023 will be selected.
14.3. All sections must have a maximum of 30 players, replacements will be done until
there are 30 players or an even number of players in a section.
14.4. All replacements after 15 April will be taken from the host Province.

17. International Participation
17.1. Players who qualified through the final standing at the SAJCCC 2024 for Continental
and International participation will be announced at the prize giving ceremony
18.1. Chess South Africa (Elect) is deeply committed to creating and maintaining a safe,

and stakeholders.
18.2. Everyone associated with Chess South Africa has the right to participate in an
environment free from any form of discrimination, harassment, abuse, or misconduct.
18.3. As such Chess South Africa adopts a zero-tolerance stance towards all forms of abuse,
including but not limited to physical, sexual, emotional, and bullying.
18.4. Any allegations of misconduct will be taken seriously, thoroughly investigated, and
dealt with swiftly and appropriately.
18.5. For this reason, it will be compulsory for all administrators and arbiters involved in the
2024 SA Open to have a Level 1 or Level 2 safe guarding certificate to be involved in
the tournament.
18.6. These certificates must be submitted to the LOC as required.

19.1. The following lists include all players that have automatically qualified for the
2024 SAJCCC via the “Top 15 Grand Prix Points” and “Top 15 Ratings” criteria
