Class Prophecy

The future is uncertain. Today, we live in a world filled with opportunities and dreams. Have you ever asked
yourself, “What would I become in the future?” “Will I ever reach my dreams and become the person I want to be?”.
These are some of the questions that we seek to answer. It is how we envision the future that becomes the reflection
of how we work today. We learn from the past, we strive in the present, and we “become” in the future. We shape our
own destiny, and we can only visualize and anticipate what tomorrow will bring.

It was July 11, 2032. I woke up to the voice of Jane Aubrey Aven, a Social Studies Teacher, currently taking
her doctorate degree. She calls me to eat breakfast downstairs. It was a very peaceful day. I grabbed my cell phone to
check my messages and emails. I was surprised to receive a message from John Adrian Morales, our former class
mayor, who is now a psychologist and a teacher in Gumaca National High School. He asked for my presence in a
meeting that will be held at the Dulzura Café, owned by our former classmate, Keanna Palomas, in collaboration with
our TVL batchmates. (mention names of chefs renowned cooks from name of different places or abroad ) as the head
chefs, coffee shop owners, c Upon arriving, I was greeted by the smiles and cheers of my batchmates. The Class
Officers of Grade 12 HUMSS B are here. I smiled back and sat down. “So, why did you ask us to come here, Adrian?”,
said Jayzel Joy Zara, Psy.D. “I have gathered all of you here today to inform you that one week prior to this day, the
Gumaca National High School will host a Grand Alumni Homecoming”, Adrian said. We proceed to plan for the
upcoming event. Lei Antoinette Decena, LPT recommended Vincent Rogel, who is now a Radio DJ of DZMM, together
with Victorino Formaran III, who is now a Registered Nurse, to be the hosts of the event. They agreed and also
recommended Engr. Cate Elizabeth Apor to prepare the invitations for the alumni of Gumaca National High School.

While everyone was busy talking about their tasks for the event, Ms. Jana Balimbing, RN and Ross Martin
Dairo, who is now a Neurosurgeon and a philanthropist, arrived at the venue. “I have good news! Our TVL and ABM
batchmates, now the owners of catering business and restaurants across the country, agreed to provide the food
service for the event”, said Ms. Balimbing. Mr. Dairo also told us that our TVL batchmates, now the owners of famous
beauty salons, agreed to do our hairstyles and make-ups. Ms. Marenel Dean, a game developer, together with the
STEM Computer Engineers, volunteered to organize the venue, as well as the lighting and other technical aspects of
the program. After the meeting, we bid our farewells and parted ways. One week from now, I will see all of my
batchmates, especially, my beloved HUMSS B. A smile etched on my face as I recollect our most unforgettable
memories. I slowly closed my eyes and fell asleep.

I opened my eyes to the sound of the loud voices. There I was, in the middle of the GNHS-covered court,
surrounded by the Batch 2023, all singing our graduation song; “Himig ng Pangarap”. The scene starts to fade as our
graduation gowns slowly turn into our professional uniforms. I looked around. The STEM students are now Doctors,
Engineers, and Architects. On the other side of the venue are the ABM students, who are now successful
Entrepreneurs, Accountants, and Business owners. I was greeted by the twins, Wren Abbygaile Palma, DDS, and
Wren Aubrey Palma, who is now a Certified Public Accountant, together with Rozel Anne Gensaya, Ph.D. My friend
John Carlo Formaran, now a Marine Engineer at the OSM Maritime Company, also approached and greeted me. I
smiled as I look around, when suddenly, a familiar voice called me. “Boss Jb”. I turned my head and saw my friend,
Kent Gabriel Sta. Maria, a Marine Transportation Engineer, encouraged me to come and sit down with them. As I
come closer, I recognized these smiling faces. The whole HUMSS B fam is here, all wearing their uniforms. Some of
them are Teachers, some are Police Officers and Firefighters, and others pursued different professions. We were
talking and laughing when suddenly, a large group of vehicles stopped in front of the school gates. Mr. Jervis Iglesia
arrived at the venue, escorted by an entourage, who is now the 21 st President of the Republic of the Philippines. I
looked at them with distinct happiness on my face. This group of people are family to me. We were all having fun when
someone spoke through the microphone. It was Lerie Jean Ayala, the SSG President of Batch 2023. She announced
that the STEM architects and engineers, together with the TVL SMAW and EPAS, will embark on a big project for
Gumaca National High School. They plan to build more classrooms and facilities for the future students of GNHS.
Everyone applauded. We spent the rest of the day having fun and catching up with each other. After the event, we
went home, full of happiness and enjoyment. This day is truly memorable.

Today is July 19, 2032. The final day of our vacation here in the Philippines. I woke up early and prepared to
go the airport. I will be going back to Canada. I am now a Science Teacher in the University of Toronto, and currently
taking my Doctorate Degree in Science. As I stared at the vast blue sky, through the airplane window, I remembered a
line from our career guidance song; “sandaling pumipikit, inaalala lang saglit, ang mga panahong saking bibig ay may
ngiti”. I closed my eyes. The jeepney. The gates of Gumaca National High School. The covered pathwalk. The Grade
12 HUMSS B classroom. My Classmates. My Adviser. My subject teachers. My batchmates. They are all in my mind. I
smiled and thought to myself, our batch is truly amazing. Until next time! Farewell.
