THEME: PUSHING THE LIMITS: THE PATHFIT 4 BASKETBALL 2024


GENERAL GUIDELINES

1. All players must be enrolled in PATHFIT 4.


2. Players must be physically fit and has no health issues related to endurance.
3. The total number of participants must be 8-12 per team.
4. Each member must wear basketball jersey’s with numbers at the back.
5. Each team must play round robin, they must face all of the other teams and the top 1 and 2 will be playing at
the finals for championship game, whoever looses will be the 1st placer and the top 3 and top 4 will be
competing for 2nd placer, whoever looses will be automatically the 3rd placer.
6. There will be 2 quarters per game with 10 minutes per quarter.
7. For overtime play or 3RD quarter, the game would be played for 5 minutes
8. The basketball game will be played on May 25,26, 2024(Saturday, Sunday)
9. The decision of the referee is final and irrevocable.
10. Each team must provide MALE muse for male category and for female category will be female also .
11. Teams that will not arrive at the scheduled time , will be automatically eliminated.

RULES AND REGULATION:

1. Court Dimensions: A standard basketball court measures 94 feet (28.65 meters) in length and 50 feet (15.24
meters) in width for professional games. The court is divided into two main sections by the midcourt line.
2. Teams: Each team consists of five players on the court at a time. Substitutions can be made during stoppages
in play.
3. Scoring: Points are scored by shooting the basketball through the opponent's hoop. A field goal is worth two
points if scored from within the three-point line and three points if scored from beyond the three-point line.
Free throws are worth one point each.
4. Game Duration: A standard basketball game consists of four quarters, each lasting 12 minutes for
professional games. In college and high school games, the duration may vary. Overtime periods may be
played in the event of a tie at the end of regulation time.
5. Violations: Various violations can occur during a basketball game, including traveling (moving without
dribbling the ball), double dribble (dribbling the ball with both hands or stopping and then starting to dribble
again), and goaltending (interfering with the ball as it approaches the basket).
6. Fouls: Fouls are committed when a player makes illegal physical contact with an opponent. Personal fouls
are called on individual players, while team fouls are accumulated by the team as a whole. Players may be
disqualified from the game if they accumulate too many fouls.
7. Free Throws: Free throws are awarded to a player who has been fouled while shooting or when a team has
accumulated a certain number of team fouls in a quarter. The player takes unopposed shots from the free-
throw line.
8. Possession Arrow: In situations where teams are awarded possession of the ball (such as jump balls or
alternating possessions after jump balls), a possession arrow is used to determine which team gets the ball.
9. Timeouts: Each team is allowed a certain number of timeouts per game, during which play is temporarily
suspended to allow the coach to confer with players, make substitutions, or adjust strategy.
10. Equipment: Players must wear appropriate attire, including jerseys, shorts, and basketball shoes. The
basketball itself must meet certain specifications regarding size, weight, and inflation.

VIOLATIONS:
1. Traveling: Occurs when a player moves one or both feet illegally without dribbling the ball. This typically
involves taking too many steps without dribbling or moving the pivot foot while holding the ball.
2. Double Dribble: Happens when a player dribbles the ball with both hands simultaneously or stops dribbling
and then resumes dribbling again.
3. Carrying or Palming: Involves a player using their hand or arm to scoop or carry the ball while dribbling,
giving them an unfair advantage.
4. Three Seconds Violation: Occurs when an offensive player remains in the key or paint area (the area below
the free-throw line) for more than three seconds consecutively while their team is in possession of the ball.
5. Five Seconds Violation: Applies to various situations:
 Five-Second Back-to-the-Basket Violation: Involves an offensive player holding the ball with their
back to the basket for more than five seconds while closely guarded by a defender.
 Five-Second Inbounding Violation: Happens when a player fails to inbound the ball within five
seconds after receiving it from the referee or after a made basket.
6. Goaltending: Occurs when a defensive player interferes with a shot that is on its way down and is on a
downward trajectory towards the basket, or if they touch the ball while it's directly above the rim.
7. Basket Interference: Similar to goaltending, this violation happens when a player interferes with the ball
while it's on the rim or within the cylinder above the rim.
8. Technical Foul: While not a violation per se, a technical foul is called for unsportsmanlike conduct, such as
arguing with referees, using profanity, or other acts of misconduct. Technical fouls result in free throws for
the opposing team and possibly other penalties.
9. Out-of-Bounds Violation: Occurs when the ball or a player with the ball goes out of the boundaries of the
court. The opposing team is awarded possession.
10. Offensive Charging: Happens when an offensive player with the ball runs into a defender who has
established position, resulting in a charging foul.
