THE BELOW NAMED COMPLAINANT BEING DULY SWORN, ON INFORMATION AND BELIEF
STATES THAT:
The above-named defendant on or about Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 2765 North Fratney Street, in
the City of Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, did intentionally cause bodily harm to MDJ, a
school district employee acting in that capacity, and the defendant had reason to know that the victim
was a school district employee, without the consent of the person so injured, contrary to sec.
940.20(5)(b), 939.50(3)(i) Wis. Stats.
Upon conviction for this offense, a Class I Felony, the defendant may be fined not more than Ten
Thousand Dollars ($10,000), or imprisoned not more than three (3) years and six (6) months, or both.
The above-named defendant on or about Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 2765 North Fratney Street, in
the City of Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, did cause substantial bodily harm to MDJ, by an
act done with intent to cause bodily harm to that person, contrary to sec. 940.19(2), 939.50(3)(i) Wis.
Stats.
Upon conviction for this offense, a Class I Felony, the defendant may be fined not more than Ten
Thousand Dollars ($10,000), or imprisoned not more than three (3) years and six (6) months, or both.
Probable Cause:
Complainant is a City of Milwaukee Law Enforcement Officer and bases this complaint on information
and belief and on a review of official police reports prepared by Milwaukee Police Officers which are
the kind Complainant has used in the past and found to be truthful and reliable and which
Complainant knows were prepared in the ordinary and regular course of business.
On March 14, 2024, at approximately 10:35 a.m., Officer Ray Pearson and Officer Ashley Navone
were dispatched for a battery complaint at Riverwest Elementary School, 2765 N. Fratney St., City
and County of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The caller stated a parent punched an employee and left the
scene. Officer Pearson and Officer Navone arrived at the school and met with school employee victim
M.D.J. who was laying on the ground with visible injuries to his face. Officer Pearson reports that
school employees advised the school was on lockdown. Officer Pearson observed M.D.J. had a black
right eye, swelling on the right side of his face, and a laceration on the back of his head due to hitting

a wall. Officer Pearson observed blood on M.D.J.’s hands, head, and face with a pool of blood on the
carpet he was laying on. M.D.J. stated he was covering for Ms. Evans in classroom 207 when
student, E.W., got disruptive and refused to do his work. M.D.J. stated that E.W. verbally insulted his
mother so he asked E.W. to leave and go into room 202. M.D.J. stated that approximately 30-40
minutes later, M.D.J. was covering a music class when E.W. returned with his father, defendant
Equanis Williams. M.D.J. stated defendant wanted to talk in the hallway and accused him of spitting
on E.W. M.D.J. denied spitting on E.W. and attempted to tell defendant about the verbal insults his
son made. Defendant responded, “Now I’m talking about your mom. Fuck your mom!” and then struck
M.D.J. multiple times in the face before leaving the school building. M.D.J. did not consent to be
struck and stated he suffered pain by the struck multiple times. M.D.J. was transferred on an
ambulance to Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital for medical treatment.
Officer Navone spoke with school security officer J.J.J. who witnessed the incident. J.J.J. stated she
observed defendant asking M.D.J. “Did you spit on my son?”, in which M.D.J. replied “no.” J.J.J.
stated she observed defendant state “Fuck your mother!” before striking M.D.J. 4-5 times. J.J.J.
observed defendant left the school. Officer Navone spoke with another witness, L.D.B., who also
observed defendant strike M.D.J. multiple times. Officer Pearson spoke with Principal L.N.W. who
stated she was able to pull footage of the incident that showed defendant strike M.D.J. in the face four
times before walking off camera.
Officer Pearson went to Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital to follow up with M.D.J. regarding his
injuries. M.D.J. was diagnosed with an orbital facial fracture and a fracture zygomatic bone in the
face. M.D.J. advised he was informed he would require multiple facial surgeries for his injuries.
M.D.J. was later shown a photo array where he identified defendant as the person who struck him
multiple times.
