POL3217_“YOUR Student ID”, - Students are given 15 minutes for submitting their files to ‘Turnitin on the Moodle course page. You need to submit the file the latest at 11:45 (Hong Kong time). - Late submission will NOT be accepted. - The examination is designed for the students to 1) demonstrate their understanding of the core features of different political ideologies and 2) adopt these concepts to explain and analyze political development in the contemporary world. ~ Students are advised to prioritize the latter (2) over the former(1) due to the open-book nature of the online examination. ‘You are reminded of the necessity for a clear and orderly presentation in your answers POL3217/2021 1 Answer any TWO questions. (50 marks each) 1 Which political spectrum do you consider best to understanding contemporary politics, the lineal, two-dimensional or the horseshoe spectrum? Do you agree with the liberal idea that the individual is more important than society? Answer with reference to liberalism and at least one of the following ideologies: conservatism, Marxism and socialism. How do conservatives justify the preservation of tradition?
