READING (Read the passage carefully!)

Bees

Bees are essential pollinators, playing a crucial role in the ecosystem. They collect nectar and pollen
from flowers to feed themselves and their colonies. As they move from flower to flower, they
transfer pollen, allowing plants to reproduce.

A bee colony typically consists of a queen bee, drones, and worker bees. The queen bee is the largest
bee in the colony and is responsible for laying eggs. Drones are male bees whose primary role is to
mate with the queen. Worker bees are female bees that perform various tasks such as collecting
nectar, building and maintaining the hive, and caring for the larvae.

Bees communicate through dance and pheromones. For example, worker bees perform a "waggle
dance" to indicate the direction and distance of a food source. They also release pheromones to
signal danger or attract mates.

Unfortunately, bees are facing numerous threats, including habitat loss, pesticide use, climate
change, and diseases. Conservation efforts are vital to protecting bee populations and maintaining
biodiversity.
