SBI PO/CLERK, RRB PO/CLERK, IBPS PO/CLERK & All Banking & Insurance Exam
31. Solution (e) 109 – 37 = 72
72 + 57 = 129
129 – 77 = 52
So, Wrong number is — 332 52 + 97 = 149

Right number should be = 246 + 85 = 331 Therefore, 52 should come in place of 62.

32. Solution (c)

37. Solution (d)
18×4=72,
125 + 30 = 155
72 ÷2=36,
155 + 60 = 215
36 ×4=144,
215 + 90 = 305
144 ÷2=72
305 + 120 = 425
72 ×4=288
425 + 150 = 575
So wrong number is — 150
Therefore, 575 should come in place of
555.
33. Solution (b)
25+(2² + 2)=31
38. Solution (e)
31+(3² + 3)=43 The series follows the sum of consecutive
43 +(4² + 4)=63, prime numbers.
63 +(5² + 5)=93, 102 + 13 = 115
93 +(6² + 6)=135 115 + 17 = 132
So, wrong number is — 44 132 + 19 = 151
151 + 23 = 174
34. Solution (e) 174 + 29 = 203
15+(13×1-1)=27 Therefore, series is correct.
27+(13×2-2)=51
51+(13×3-3)=87 39. Solution (a)
87+(13×4-4)=135 74 – 22 = 70

135+(13×5-5)=195 70 + 32 = 79

Wrong number is 196 79 – 42 = 63

63 + 52 = 88
88 – 62 = 52
35. Solution (a)
Therefore, 79 should come in place of 81.
47+32 =56
56+52 =81
40. Solution (d)
81+72 =130
120 + 20 = 140
130+92 =211
140 + 40 = 180
211+112 =332
180 + 60 = 240
Wrong number is 57
240 + 80 = 320
320 + 100 = 420

12 – 2y
41. Solution (c) x= 5
From I: Put value of ‘x’ in (ii),
x2 = 36 7×
12 – 2y
+ 3y = 16
5
x = -6, 6 84 – 14y + 15y = 80
From II: y = -4
y2 + 8y = 0 x=
12 – 2y
=
20
=4
5 5
y(y + 8) = 0
So, x > y
y = 0, -8

X Relation Y 44. Solution (a)

From I:
-6 < 0
√x = 3
x=9
-6 > -8
From II:
6 > 0 (y – 1) = y – 1
25

(y – 1)(y – 1) = 25
6 > -8
(y – 1)2 = 25
So, no relation can be established between
(y – 1) = 5 or, (y – 1) = -5
x and y.
y = 6, -4

42. Solution (b) X Relation Y

From I:
9 > 6
x3 = 512
x=8
9 > -4
From II:
So, x > y
y2 – 21y + 108 = 0
y2 – 9y – 12y + 108 = 0
45. Solution (c)
y(y – 9) – 12(y – 9) = 0
From I:
(y – 9)(y – 12) = 0
x2 – 64 = 0
y = 9, 12
x2 = 64
X Relation y
x = 8, -8
From II:
8 < 9
y3 = 343

8 < 12 y=7

So, x < y X Relation Y

-8 < 7
43. Solution (a)
From I:
8 > 7
5x + 2y = 12

So, no relation can be established between
X Relation y
x and y.

-18 < 0
46. Solution (c)
From I: -18 = -18
(x + 6) = 23x + 8
2

x2 + 12x + 36 = 23x + 8 18 > 0

x2 – 11x + 28 = 0
18 > -18
x2 – 4x – 7x + 28 = 0
x(x – 4) – 7(x – 4) = 0 So, the relationship cannot be established.
(x – 7)(x – 4) = 0
x = 7, 4 48. Solution (a)
From II: From II:
(y – 8) = 36 – 5y
2
46y + 98 = 420
y2 – 16y + 64 = 36 – 5y
46y = 322
y2 – 11y + 28 = 0
y=7
y2 – 7y – 4y + 28 = 0
From I:
y(y – 7) – 4(y – 7) = 0
9x + 8y = 128
(y – 7)(y – 4) = 0
9x + 56 = 128
y = 7, 4
9x = 72
X Relation y x=8
So, x > y
7 = 7

7 > 4 49. Solution (c)

From I:
4 < 7
x2 + 4x = 45
x2 + 4x – 45 = 0
4 = 4
x2 + 9x – 5x – 45 = 0
So, the relationship cannot be established.
x(x + 9) – 5(x + 9) = 0
(x + 9)(x – 5) = 0
47. Solution (c)
x = -9, 5
From I:
From II:
x2 + 128 = 452
y2 + 16y + 63 = 0
x2 = 324
y2 + 9y + 7y + 63 = 0
x = -18, 18
From II: y(y + 9) + 7(y + 9) = 0

y2 + 18y = 0 (y + 9)(y + 7) = 0

y(y + 18) = 0 y = –9, -7

y = 0, -18 41. Solution (c)

From equation I: 46. Solution (a)
9 2
15x2 -17x -18 = (5x -9)(3x + 2)= 0 => x = 5 , − 3 I. 5x 2 + 5x − 3x − 3 = 0
From equation II: 5x(x + 1) − 3(x + 1) = 0
3
x = 5 , −1
y2 +14y -147 = (y -7) (y + 21) = 0
=> y = 7, -21 II. 2y 2 + 4y + 3y + 6 = 0
2y(y + 2) + 3(y + 2) = 0
So, relationship cannot be established −3
y = 2 , −2
between x and y
x>y

42. Solution (c)

47. Solution (b)
From equation I: 144
I. x = 289 + = 297
15x2 -19x -10 = (5x + 2)(3x -5)= 0 18
2 5 II. y = 298
=> x = -5 , 3 x<y
From equation II:
y2 -5y -204 = (y + 12)(y -17) = 0 48. Solution (b)
=> y = -12, 17 From equation I:
So, relationship cannot be established 15x2 -23x -28 = (5x + 4)(3x -7)= 0
between x and y
4 7
=> x = - ,
5 3
From equation II:
43. Solution (d) y2 -25y +100 = (y -5)(y -20) = 0
I. 2x² + 11x + 14 = 0 => y = 5, 20 So, x < y
⇒ 2x² + 4x + 7x + 14= 0
⇒ (x + 2) (2x + 7) = 0 49. Solution (c)
7
⇒ x = -2, -2 From equation I:
II. 2y² + 15y + 28= 0 15x2 -26x +7 = (5x -7)(3x -1)= 0
⇒ 2y² + 8y + 7y + 28 = 0 7 1
=> x = 5 , 3
⇒ (y + 4) (2y + 7) = 0 From equation II:
7
⇒ y = -4, -2 y2 +9y -322 = (y -14)(y + 23) = 0
⇒ x≥ y => y = 14, -23
So, relationship cannot be established
44. Solution (d) between x and y
I. x 2 − 8x − 3x + 24 = 0
x(x − 8) − 3(x − 8) = 0 50. Solution (e)
x = 3, 8
I. 2x2 + 15x + 28 = 0
II. 2y 2 − 6y − 3y + 9 = 0
or, 2x2 + 8x + 7x + 28 = 0
2y(y − 3) − 3(y − 3) = 0
y = 3, 2
3 or, 2x (x + 4) + 7 (x + 4) = 0
∴ x≥y or, (2x + 7)(x + 4) = 0
7
∴ x = −4, − 2
45. Solution (d) II. 2y2 + 13y + 21 = 0
I. x 2 − 7x + 2x − 14 = 0 or, 2y2 + 6y + 7y + 21 = 0
x(x − 7) + 2(x − 7) = 0 or, 2y( y + 3) + 7 (y + 3) = 0
x = 7, −2 or, (2y + 7) (y + 3) = 0
II. y 2 + 5y + 2y + 10 = 0 7
∴ y = −3, − 2 Hence, x ≤ y
y = −2, −5
x≥y

Or, 16x + 10 = 19x ATQ,
Or, 19x - 16x = 10 [(3x - 4 + 8x + 6) ÷ 2] = 34
Or, 3x = 10 Or, 11x + 2 = 34 X 2
Or, x = (10/3) = 3.33 Or, 11x = 68 - 2
So, the sum of the given two numbers = 8x + 11x = Or, x = (66/11) = 6
19x = 19 X 3.33 = 63.27 So, the present age of 'A' = 3x = 3 X 6 = 18 years

X 12) = (4/5) 204/17 = 12 units
Or, 5 X 36000 X 4 [2 + (100 - m) /100] = 4 X 40000 X Amount of work done by ‘Mohan’ and ‘Sohan’
12 together in one day = 204/12 = 17 units
Or, 2 + (100 - m) /100 = 40000 X 12 X (1/5) X Amount of work done by ‘Sohan’ in one day = 17 –
(1/36000) 12 = 5 units
Or, 200 + 100 - m = 100 X (10/9) X 12 X (1/5) Amount of work done by ‘Mohan’ in 7 days = 12 × 7 =
Or, 300 - m = (800/3) 84 units
Or, 900 – 3m = 800 Desired time taken = {(204 – 84)/5} = 24 days
Or, 3m = 900 - 800 Hence, option b.
So, m = (100/3)

work = (12/0.8) = 15 days Hence, option b.
Let, the total work be LCM of (15, 20) = 60 units
So, the efficiency of Vandu = (60/15) = 4 units/day 79. Solution
Efficiency of shivangi = (60/20) = 3 units/day According to question.
So, the work done by Vandu and shivangi together 72× (m + 10) × 3 + 48 × m × 3 = 7560
in 6 days = (4 + 3) X 6 = 7 X 6 = 42 units Or, 72m + 48m + 720 = 2520
So, the required percentage = (42/60) X 100 = 70% Or, 120m= 1800
