Lesson Plan Reading Assessment:

Initial assessment(s) used: A KWL chart will be used to gauge the knowledge before the reading. A
small summary will be included for a review.

Standards) to be addressed:

Lesson:

1. Students will be given a primary sources document and a secondary source which relates to that
document. Students will pre-read and then “search and destroy” the text.
2. Student will then work in pairs to complete Cornell notes. This will prepare kids for the ppt
presentation
3. PPT presentation will focus on the reading assignments and utilize their Cornell notes to ask
guided questions. Teacher will model proper responses.

Remediation strategies: Remediation will be provided during the GeoSprites activity and during the
following class’s bellringer. I will model a sample product and review.

Differentiation: I do not break down my student into groups by ability however I group students in
diverse groups. Often paring a strong reader with weaker reader for modeling purposes.

Assessment: A Short response DBQ will be used to test progress.
