5. CONSTRUCTION OF COMPONENT APPARATUS.
The wind direction and speed transmitter has the construction as shown in FIG-2 the propeller is
fixed to the generator shaft in such a manner that the propeller shaft is the generator shaft.
The generator cover can be easily mounted or removed by hand with propeller remove.
To the central stand is mounted on ball bearings a shaft which supports the streamline body.
The wind direction transmitter and the shaft are connected with each other by means of a coupling.
For the installation if this equipment select a location which is as high as practicable and is not
affected by obstructions. In case of the ground installation, align “N” mark on the stand to the north
and “S” mark to the south and secure equipment firmly five(5) M10 bolts.
In case of the ship board installation align “BOW” mark to the head of the ship.
The electric wires should be inserted from the cable gland and, with the terminal cover removed,
The stand has a ground terminal be sure to connect this terminal to ground.
Install the unit and connect the wires correctly, and then supply the power source of DC24V.

6-1. INDICATOR
⑤ knots or m/s
③ Current Wind
Speed
6-2. DESCRIPTION
The red point on the top of the tube indicates the 0° position and should be orientated North or
Ship Head.
Wind speed is displayed in your choice of units : knots, m/s.
Maximum wind speed is saved on the display until reset by
the operator.
Wind direction information is clearly displayed on a circular
pattern of LEDs.
Bold front panel graphics give a quick indication of wind
angle relative to vessel heading.

6-3. METHOD of USE
The following buttons are provided on the front panel.
- DIM : Front panel brightness control allows adjustment for best viewing in any
light. When One Click, brightness control is 16 steps. Luminous front panel
markings allow viewing even in a darkened pilothouse.
- FUCT : When the button pressed, From m/s to knots or from knots to m/s
change. And when the button pressed 2seconds, Maximum wind value is
reset to Zero.
Example 1) Change from m/s to knots

7. MAINTENANCE
* Bearings
All bearings used ball type. These bearings are thoroughly cleaned and then packed with grease
and has the oil reservoir filled with oil, and should require no maintenance.
When painting this apparatus, pay special attention to the instructions given in the FIG-2.
Slight propeller contamination is not objectionable. If the propeller is badly contaminated, polish
with abrasives (Pikal brass polisher) or the like and then clean with gasoline. To do this, the
propeller must be removed. When mounting the propeller, be sure to align the key in position. If

8. DISMOUNTING PROCEDURE
The dismounting of propeller and generator is made thorough the following procedure in case
D) Unscrew the generator fixing screw (4) and take the generator off.
Remark: When mounting the propeller on the shaft. Care must be taken to always put the shaft

10. GUIDANCE NOTE
The sensors shall be situated in locations where the effects of air flow distortion due to
superstructure or other large shipboard structures are being minimized.
Guidance note:
Top of the fore mast is the ideal location on ships with its superstructure aft. Sensors located
above the compass deck should be placed as far forward as possible and as high as possible, ideally
on a slim mast located at the forward edge of the compass deck.
If this is impracticable then the sensor should be located above compass deck at a height, z,
according to : z = 0.3(H + x)
H = Height of compass deck above sea level
x = horizontal distance from edge of compass deck
z = height of sensor above compass deck
