HANDOUT S1: SPM SPEAKING AND THE CEFR

The updated CEFR defines the qualitative features of spoken language in terms of: Range, Accuracy, Fluency, Interaction and
Coherence.

Work with a partner and quickly decide in each case which descriptor (A or B) is describing which CEFR level – A2, B1, B2 or
C1. There is a choice of 2 levels for each criterion.

Range – A2 or B1?
