Story Path Walkthrough :Final Version: By DarkCrono x2 Table of Contents I. II. III. IV. V. VI. VII. Introduction Understanding the Branches Kingdom Branch Empire Branch Ruin Branch Different Endings Legal Stuff

I. Introduction Vanguard Bandits is a very intresting game in the quality that it gives you the choice of how you will proceed through the game. There are three branches of story patterns, each taking you on a completely different stroy and different characters. The characters that may hav e been your ally in one branch may be a deadly foe in the next. The game spans 20 missions everyt ime you play, but there are 56 missions in total. Having completed all 56 myself, I feel I can hel p you fellow Vanguard Banditeers and tell you how to proceed.

II. Understanding the Branches There are three different branches. The first, and easiest to accomplish is that of 'Kingdom' which takes you on the suspected course of Bastion and friends, with only a few twists and turns. The second, and a bit more difficult but not by much 'Empire' is a complete swit ch around of the Kingdom storyline. It's almost like playing a different game. The last, and stra nge storyline is that of 'Ruin'. This is a very wierd happening of events, and makes little to no sense, and is VERY difficult to get to.

Getting to each new branch may take a simple answer to a multiple choice questio n, an analysis of Bastion's level or it may be something difficult like the status of member's morale from previous conversations. If you want to try out all three branches and all five e ndings, you will need to read this guide to the upmost detail.

III. Kingdom Branch The Kingdom Branch is your default story, and most people will probably follow i t their first time through Vanguard Bandits. It is fun, simple at times, but still fun, and in no way a bad choice for progressing. Option A. After Mission 3, if you are under level 8 you will continue with the Kingdom Bra nch. However, if you have reached level 8, you will be shown two options: a.'We must attend to Kamorge!' b.'I shall find that murderer!' Choose a and you will continue with the Kingdom Branch. B on the other hand will lead to another branch and will be explained later. Option B. After completion of Mission 5, another multiple choice question will come about. The options are: a.'Actually, Zeira, I'll meet with him.' b.'... ... ...' Selecting b has no effect, but selecting a will lead you to another cut-scene wi th yet another multiple choice question. The answers are: a.'Yes. Tell him I will depart soon.' b.'I'm afraid not.' Selecting a will move you on to a battle with a powerful ally, while selecting b will let you engage in a similar battle but without the ally. Option C. If Bastion dies in either mission above, he will move onto two mediocre, but pro fitable missions, if he survives; he will move onto two story driven missions. Option D. Upon completion of one the last two missions above, and if you have completed th e game once before, you will be shown the following option: a.'I intend to end the war.' b.'I will conquer the continent!'

Selection of a will proceed with the Kingdom storyline. B leads to Ruin, and wil l be discussed later in the walkthrough. Option E. After completeing your 11th Kingdom Mission, during a cutscene a character may j oin your party. It all depends on what path you chose earlier, if Bastion did indeed die in Opti on C you will get a powerhouse character making those mediocre missions a joy. Option F. After the 15th Mission, if Bastion is level 19 or lower, a multiple choice quesi on will appear: a.'Of course Milea, I would be honored.' b.'I'm sorry, Milea, but I can't do that.' Choosing a results in a craptacular new character, while being above level 19 or choosing b results in not getting a waste of a playable character.

IV. Empire Branch This branch is much different than Kingdom, and offers a completely different ex perience. This is my personal favorite branch. However, it has only one option. Choosing B will move you over to the awesome Empire branch.

V. Ruin Branch Ruin is very strange, with, uh, Puck leading the party through well, ruins. Ruin only has one option and one ending. Option D. Upon completion of one the last two missions of Option C in Kingdom's options, a nd if you have completed the game once before, you will be shown the following option: a.'I intend to end the war.' b.'I will conquer the continent!' Selection of a will proceed with the Kingdom storyline. B leads to Ruin, and you stay on that path the rest of the game.

VI. Different Endings Kingdom offers two endings, a good and a bad. Empire also offers two endings, bo th dealing with one of Bastion's loves. Ruin has one set ending and will not be discussed here. Kingdom's Endings After completing Mission 19, an analysis of character's morale is computed. If m ost of the characters like you, then you get the great ending. Otherwise, you will get the crap ending. Empire's Endings After completion of Mission 17 in the Empire Branch, an analysis of Sadira's and Cecilia's morale towards Bastion is computed. If Sadira likes you more, or just as much as Cecilia, you get her ending. If Cecilia likes you more, you get her ending.
