St Augustines Primary School Bulletin: Monday 28th November

You might find this useful if you are making Advent Calendars with your classes: www.cafod.org.uk/primary/advent Suspected case of Chicken Pox reported this week in Nursery Class A reminder that the Headteacher of Glade Primary School will be visiting us on Monday. She will visit all classrooms, look in books, look at displays, talk to children etc. The 'Blink' is in the spirit of : we are a good school and could be even better if.... She is also considering how reading is developed through the school. I am timetabling her to meet with Lorraine from 9am until 9:30am, to visit junior classes from 9:30am until 11am and then to visit the infants up until lunch time, she will have lunch and visit the Nursery at 1pm [approx]. Angela will feed back to me and any SMT who might be available. PLEASE REMIND THE CHILDREN ABOUT GOOD MANNERS AND RESPECTFUL BEHAVIOUR. DUE TO INDUSTRIAL ACTION BY THE COMBINED TEACHER AND SCHOOL LEADERSHIP UNIONS AS WELL AS THE GMB I HAVE MADE THE DECISION TO CLOSE THE SCHOOL NEXT WEDNESDAY 30TH NOVEMBER. STAFF WHO ARE NOT STRIKING ARE EXPECTED TO WORK FROM HOME ON ANY TASK THAT THEIR LINE MANAGER DEEMS TO BE SUITABLE. THE CHAIR OF GOVERNORS AND GOVERNING BODY ARE AWARE OF THIS DECISION. I AM INFORMING PARENTS TODAY. THIS MORNING,23RD NOV, THE DOOR BY THE LIBRARY WAS LEFT OPEN BY A CLASS OR PERSON WHO HAD LEFT THE SCHOOL BY THIS EXIT. AS THE DOOR WAS ON THE HOOK I PRESUME IT WAS MORE LIKELY A CLASS! SUBSEQUENTLY A STRANGER ENTERED THE BUILDING PUTTING US ALL AT RISK. FORTUNATELY, HE WAS CHALLENGED BY STAFF AND EVENTUALLY HE LEFT THE BUILDING. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT WHEN YOU ARE WITH YOUR CLASS THAT WHATEVER DOOR YOU USE IS CLOSED AFTER YOU HAVE LEFT THE BUILDING. THE LIBRARY DOORS, FIRE EXIT DOORS IN THE HALL AND INFANT RECEPTION DOORS ARE CONSTANTLY LEFT OPEN AND TODAY PROVES THAT THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE FOR US. THANKS YOU TO THE STAFF WHO ACTED SO PROMPTLY.
