General Rules and Guidelines for Quiz Bee
For the purpose of harmonious and an organized event, the following sets of guidelines were set
and will be implemented throughout the course of the Universidad de Zamboanga (UZP)
intramurals. These guidelines are applicable to all the students who will be joining the quiz bee.
I. PLAYER REQUIREMENTS
● It is open to all the bona fide students of UZP currently enrolled for the Second Semester
- School Year 2022-2023. As proof of enrollment, participants must present their
identification cards and must register an hour before the quiz bee.
● THREE PLAYERS are required to represent their departments.
● Players must be on their team uniform during the course of their event.
● Players must be available on time during the tournament dates, failure to do so will be
considered as participants forfeiting the event.
● Once the quiz bee starts, changing players are not allowed.
II. TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE
● The coverage of the quiz bee includes General Education Subjects: English, History,
Filipino, Science, Mathematics, Literature and Social Sciences.
● There are three parts for this year’s quiz bee: Easy, Average, and Difficult Round.
○ The type of questions for Easy and Average Rounds is Multiple Choice.
■ The EASY ROUND has twenty (20) questions worth 2 points
■ The AVERAGE ROUND has ten (10) questions worth 3 points
○ For the Difficult Round, the teams must answer the five (5) questions asked which
are worth 5 points. In case of a tie, a clincher round will follow.
● The LEAD SCORER will be declared as the CHAMPION. The least score accumulated
will be declared as the 3rd placer.

III. QUIZ BEE PROPER
● Cellular or mobile phones are not allowed during the competition.
● Coaching from the audiences is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
● Each team will be given letter boards to be used during Easy and Average Rounds.
● For the Difficult Round, an illustration board and chalk will be provided to each team.
● The Quiz Master shall read the question twice while the question itself will be flashed on
a screen for the contestants to see.
● All groups will answer the same sets of questions. After the second (2nd) reading, the
Quizmaster shall say “go”, only then the groups be allowed to finalize their answers.
Automatically, the time-limit will begin with the word “go” by the Quizmaster
○ For EASY ROUND: Ten (10) Seconds
○ For AVERAGE ROUND: Twenty (20) Seconds
○ For DIFFICULT ROUND: Thirty (30) Seconds
● After the time-limit, the bell is pressed by the time-keeper. The groups must stop the
discussion and must raise their letter boards. Failure to do so will signal a warning for the
first offense and will invalidate their answers for the second.
● The Quizmaster shall read and verify the groups’ answer.
● Any question, query, protest or appeals to the correctness of the answers should be raised
before the start of the next question.
● The group who gets the highest number of points is automatically declared the champion
or the runner-up as the case may be.
● The committee and the judges have the right to disqualify any contestant who will violate
the rules of the contest.
● The decision of the board of judges is final and irrevocable.
