1. How we construct our view on our body or our body-image? How this affect the person’s
lives?
Our body image, shaped by societal standards, cultural norms, and personal
experiences, profoundly affects our self-esteem and mental health. For instance,
exposure to unrealistic beauty ideals through social media and advertising can lead to
body dissatisfaction, low self-esteem, and eating disorders. Negative personal
experiences, such as bullying or rejection, can further distort body image and impact
overall well-being. Additionally, personal relationships play a crucial role, supportive
friends and family who promote body positivity can enhance self-esteem, whereas
critical or judgmental remarks can damage it.
2. What is self-objectivation? How we acquire it and how this affect the person’s lives?
Self-objectivation happens when people focus on their physical appearance above all
else, influenced by societal standards that emphasize looks, especially for women.
This mindset is learned through socialization that prioritizes beauty. It often leads to
body shame, anxiety about appearance, and less awareness of one's internal feelings.
People who self-objectify may struggle to find true motivation and fulfillment, and it
can result in higher levels of depression, eating disorders, and overall reduced well-
being.

3. Discuss this quotation "My body is an instrument for my use, not an ornament for others to
look at".

The quote highlights how crucial it is to view our bodies as instruments for our own
use and wellbeing rather than as things to be looked at and appreciated by others. It
opposes social conventions that place a premium on looks and exhorts people to
value inner contentment, self-care, and independence. This way of thinking
encourages a better connection with our body and gives us the ability to determine our
own value independently of other people's opinions. We can develop a deeper feeling
of autonomy and authenticity by putting our own needs and respect first. Rather than
viewing our bodies as ornamental accessories, this viewpoint celebrates them as
useful tools that help us grow personally and accept who we are.
