SECURITY POLICY
SHROMB GEOTECHNICAL LTD has it as a policy and function to manage
Security Affairs as an integral part of overall HSE program are indeed part of the
company business so as to minimize the number of security related incidents for all
staff, clients and third party personnel involved in her operations.
In order to ensure the security of personnel, equipment and material in all our
operations, SHROMB GEOTECHNICAL LTD maintains a combined team of locally
trained security guards.
This security provision is not limited to project sites alone but also extended to all
equipment, personnel and materials in transit.
Essential work gadgets such as walkie-talkie, torches, and uniforms shall be
provided to enhance their services.
Independent security training shall be organized from time to time to update the
workers in security measures.
Adequate security devices such as demobilizer and radio equipment shall be
provided in project vehicle and other equipment.
All security defaults shall be reported, investigated and action taken to prevent re-

CHAPTER 2 : SECURITY PLAN
1 INTRODUCTION
The objective of this plan is to ensure that only those persons with legitimate
business in connection with SHORMB GEOTECHNICAL LTD operations are
permitted entry into the work / campsites.
2 SECURITY POLICY
To maintain a secure work and campsite perimeter.
To allow access only through approved access points.
3 PERSONNEL ACCESS POLICY
To allow access only to those persons doing legitimate business with the
company in respect person with legitimate business such as :
Site personnel
CLIENT project personnel and inspectors
Accredited members of CLIENT’ host communities
Visitors with appointments.
Sub-contractor employees whose contractual obligations require access
to Work Sites.
4 MARINE ACCESS POLICY
To restrict access to work and campsite (houseboat) areas to marine crafts used
by persons doing legitimate business with the company in this regard these
marine crafts are categorised as follows:
Owned marine craft.
Marine craft contracted to the company or CLIENT.
Commercial marine crafts making deliveries to the company
Marine craft owned by accredited members of CLIENT host
communities.

5 POLICY IMPLEMENTATION
In order to ensure adequate security of personnel, materials, equipment and
plant, access shall only be allowed through designated access points. These
points shall be manned by regular the company security guards and Nigerian
Police personnel, who will be charged with the responsibility of ensuring that
only people with legitimate business are allowed entry. The entry points shall be
manned 24 hours a day. To ensure proper access and movement control the
following procedures shall be put in place:
Special identification cards shall be issued to all site personnel.
Visitors shall be given identification cards at the point of entry and the
cards must be withdrawn at the time of departure.
The security personnel at the points of entry shall keep a register,
which must be signed by all visitors after entries have been made.
5.1 ACCESS TO WORKSITE
Entry to work site shall only be through designated entry point.
The supervisors and the timekeeper shall primarily control personnel
movement at work site. The time sheets will be used as a tool for
recording all personnel on each activity.
Visitors will be allowed entry to the work site only with the permission
of the Site Manager or in the absence of the Site Manager by the
Spread Managers.
An appointed company site representative must escort all visitors to
the Work Site who will brief the visitor on security requirement.
On termination, suspension or withdrawal of staff from site, the identity
card shall be withdrawn.
Identity cards of visitors will be withdrawn at the entry point prior to
departure from site.
5.2 ACCESS TO CAMPSITE
Entry to the campsite shall only be through designated entry point.
Tagging system shall be in force at the campsite (houseboat) for the
monitoring of movement
At the point of entry the Safety Officer shall conduct brief on safety
and security.
The field office clerk will keep a logbook at all times for all visitors.

5.3 ACCESS TO SUB-BASE
The sub-base shall be fenced and provided with well designated entry
and exit point.
The perimeter fence shall be properly illuminated to facilitate
identification of movement.
Entry shall be only through designated entry point. Company security
personnel at the point of entry shall ensure that only people with
legitimate business are allowed entry. They shall keep a movement
register
The site manager shall have primarily responsibility for personnel
movement.
Security patrol shall be available twenty-four hours along the
perimeter.
5.4 EQUIPMENT AND PERSONNEL IN TRANSIT
There will be regular movement of heavy equipment, materials and personnel
between the company Base and project sites, CLIENT main office, Port
Harcourt and sub-contractor yards. Security incident exposures on these trips
include:
Armed attacks
Kidnapping / Hijacking
Hostage situation
Piracy
Boat /Car snatching
The following steps shall be taken to ensure some measure of security
coverage.
Escort comprising regular police personnel and trained security
personnel shall be provided for all barges carrying equipment and
materials.
Movement shall only be through approved route.
No night sailing
All marine craft and cars shall be provided with radio to facilitate
communication with project sites and base.

Radio facility at Base shall be manned for 24 hours.
All personnel shall be educated on the security exposure of their
operation and reminded of appropriate emergency
5.5 EMERGENCY RESPONSE
In case of security threat/attack the following rules shall be observed.
Raising of alarm will be discouraged if life is threatened.
Personnel targeted would be encouraged to obey the instructions
dished out by the culprits.
At the end of the attack:
Report shall be made to the nearest police station.
Radio contact shall be made with the Project Manager base giving
available detail information.
CLIENT shall be informed.
Offer first aid treatment if anyone is injured.
In case anyone is seriously injured, the Site Manager shall invoke
the Project Medivac procedure.
5.6 GENERAL
In the event of a great threat to life and property, CLIENT shall be
promptly informed by the project manager and CLIENT guideline shall
be strictly adhered to.
In order to ensure continued security awareness of all personnel,
training programs on security shall be arranged whenever necessary.
All security defects and threat must be reported, investigated and
followed-up to prevent recurrence.
