Relay For Life is a life-changing event that helps communities across the globe Celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, Remember loved ones lost, and Fight Bank against the disease. These large luminaries shine hope in a world sometimes full of darkness. May you find the light this Christmas season and not take for granted the healthy persons in your life. Form a Relay team today. That was the brief biography read as the Relay For Life of Kearney County float traveled through the 2011 Minden Christmas Parade. Many thanks to Bill & Sherry Huenemann, Linda Gerih, Pat Miller and Cassandra Tomsen for putting the float together (and taking it apart). Special thanks go out to Dick Phillips for the use of his trailer, and to Dave Bunger for letting us store it in his facilities. Relay is definitely a team effort, and we could not have had a presence in the parade without all these folks. Many people need reminding that Relay For Life is not a one-night event. Teams fundraise year-round, and people deal with cancer every day. Remember.cancer doesnt sleep, and neither do we!

Hi! My name is Brittany Reiser, and I am a Community Manager in Income Development for the American Cancer Society. Fancy name for saying that I get to meet and hang out with awesome people while we raise money to fight back against cancer! I was raised in Houston, TX and currently live in Kearney. I graduated with a degree in Health with an emphasis in Community Health from Texas A&M University. Texas A&M was actually where I got my start in Relay For Life. I was on a team with an organization that I was involved in and was instantly hooked. Relay was fun, touching, and inspiring all in one night. So when I moved to Kearney and had the opportunity to work for the American Cancer Society and interact with Relayers daily, it was an opportunity I had to take! I currently manage eight counties, five of which have a Relay: Buffalo County, Harlan County, Kearney County, Phelps County, and Webster County. In my spare time I like to dabble in photography and learn to play guitar :) The Relay For Life of Kearney County is a great way to continue the fight in your own community for anyone who has had cancer in the past, currently fighting, or may hear those words "you have cancer" in the future. The Relay For Life Planning Committee does an incredible job making sure that we celebrate our survivors, remember those we have lost and making sure everyone is having lots of fun ALL NIGHT! I really encourage everyone to come out and see the incredible work your neighbors are doing. I certainly love the Relay For Life of Kearney County and hope that I get to meet each of you sometime! Please don't hesitate to contact me, my door is always open!
