Application of Statistics To Civil Engineering

Statistics is important in civil engineering because it allows you to collect and analyze data to make safe decisions. It is used to plan civil works, monitor costs of materials, labor and project performance. It also helps predict the success or failure of works through probabilistic analysis of factors such as land and materials. In conclusion, statistics is fundamental in civil engineering for the control and analysis of all aspects of a construction.

APPLICATION OF STATISTICS TO ENGINEERING CIVIL

INTRODUCTION

The application of statistics in civil engineering is of great importance, because it

generates great security for making decisions; without this science, decisions would be
made in an unsafe manner. Statistics is applied in different fields in Medicine,
engineering, communication sciences, etc.

OBJECTIVE S - Know the importance and its application of Applied Statistics in the
professional career of civil engineering. –

Have knowledge of the application of statistics in civil engineering.

THE STATISTICS

It is the branch of Mathematics that is responsible for collecting data (in censuses,
surveys, etc.), organizing them for a better understanding of the phenomenon to be
studied, and analyzing them with a specific objective.

Statistics is applied to all sciences, as it facilitates the study of facts in the world or
society.

A APPLICATION OF STATISTICS APPLIED TO CIVIL ENGINEERING

Statistics is important in civil engineering because it is based on the collection of data

which is represented using statistical graphs. The statistics present the main indicators
of construction activity: production, shipments, sales, export and import of cement,
internal sale of asphalt and the production and sale of construction bars. Likewise, data
on private housing works by built area and their monetary value, value of public works
and tendered housing and tendered public works are shown.

The required data can be easily calculated for the individual elements that go into road
construction. Depending on the type of works and method of payment. The results of
the census of qualifications in construction processes, carried out by the Peruvian
Chamber of Construction (CAPECO), are included in the real estate supply of buildings
and credits granted to the most needy families through the materials bank, indicating the
number of loans. and benefited population. The public investment executed by the

country's communication routes. The information is presented

according to the source of financing for road infrastructure. Finally, information on the
main Avilés contractors is included according to the amount of construction capacity,
capital and effective date.

It also allows us to know the investment of labor for each project or phase thereof,
amount of material and economic investment in the projects carried out in different
cities, in this way we can know in which places any project that is more profitable or
less expensive is more profitable or less expensive. has to do with Civil Engineering.

CAPES OF APPLICATION OF APPLIED STATISTICS

Statistics within engineering allows us to interpret data or characteristics of a set of

elements in the industrial environment in such a way that it facilitates decision making
and control of industrial or organizational processes within the work respectively.

The applications of statistics within engineering have currently taken a rapid and
sustained increase due to the power of computational calculation. Although it is
commonly associated with demographic, economic and sociological studies, a large part
of the achievements of statistics derive from the interest of scientists in developing
models that explain the behavior of the properties of matter and biological characters.
Medicine, biology, physics and, ultimately, almost all fields of science use statistical
instruments of fundamental importance for the development of their working models.

Statistics is a science of almost universal practical application in all scientific fields: In

the natural sciences: it is widely used in the description of complex thermodynamic
models (statistical mechanics), in quantum physics, in fluid mechanics or in kinetic
theory. of gases, among many other fields. In the social and economic sciences: it is a
basic pillar of the development of demography and applied sociology. In economics: it
provides the values that help discover interrelationships between multiple macro and
microeconomic parameters. In medical sciences: it allows establishing guidelines on the
evolution of diseases and patients, mortality rates associated with morbid processes, the
degree of effectiveness of a medication, etc. Active Population Survey (EPA), prepared
by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) on a quarterly basis, according to
recommendations of the International Labor Organization (ILO), to obtain and classify
data on the activity of the population.

This survey is carried out by sampling, and the results are ordered
by age, sex, educational level, profession and other parameters. Statistics is a basic
science in professions related to health sciences and animal production, since the choice
of purposes of these professions, such as treatments, depends on it. Without statistics we
cannot know if one treatment is better than another. Although intuitively, we apply
statistics in our daily lives.

The applications of statistics within engineering have currently taken a rapid and
sustained increase due to the power of computational calculation. For example, within
Civil Engineering, civil works planning statistics are widely used, which are used in
megaprojects and statistics in the restoration of civil works. As reflected, statistics are
related to civil engineering. According to the above, it can be said that statistics is used
to infer changes or processes in construction materials, labor services and other
elements used for the construction of roads. bridges, aqueducts, among others.

 In conclusion, statistics is a discipline applied in all fields of human

activity, it became the pillar of many careers from medicine to any
engineering and of course in civil engineering, which would serve to
keep control of all the materials that are used. are going to be used in a
construction, statistics would also be responsible for analyzing the
amount of each of the materials to be used. On the other hand,
probability will provide us with the success or failure that a work may
have, that is, through our logic we will be able to check if a certain
terrain or material is feasible for the construction to be carried out.
