INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION
The ART3 (Art Cubed) app for iPhone is a mini-database for your phone which focuses on 3D, installation, and sculpture pieces by Canadian Contemporary Artists. It is a branch of the web-only Canadian Contemporary Art Danabase (CCAD), and while offering much of the same information - artists, works, bios, images, it also offers additional features which improve accessibility to information, browsing capabilities, and the possibility of discovering artists and artworks based on personal preferences. These features will be presented in the following slide. ART3 was designed to highlight its own content and create a consisten feel between the work it features and the interface. Since it is dealing strictly with 3D artwork, the entire app has a very 3-Dimensional look - starting with the gallery-style main menu, to the weighted browsing screens, and the pedastal display when browsing through the artwork.
PACT Analysis
People: The general audience for ART3 are technology savvy people with a keen interest in art, specifically 3D. They be using it mostly for finding specific information on artists they are familiar with and browsing for information or inspiration. The secondary audience are people who have a specific reason for using the app, but are not particualrly familiar with the content. Both audiences are illustrated in the Characer // Context scenarios which will be presented later on. Activities: Generally the app is created for personal use - personal browsing, personal favourites, etc. However it yields to the the possibility of interacting in real life using the information gathered through the app. Also, the gallery finder adds a strictly social dimension to the app. In terms of frequency of use, the app is meant as a reference, so most likely to be used two to three times a month, for a medium-use user. It is fairly straightforward to use, and includes an information screen, and its use poses no threat to personal health and safety. Context: Some of the contexts in which this app could be used are: personal space for browsing and looking for information; in asocial setting for clarification or discussion; in a gallery, while looking at an artists work for finding additional information or discovering similar artists; in a corporate setting when trying to find specific work for commerical uses; etc. Technology: The imput of the app is concentrated on the touch screen. It is additionally capable of working with motion gestures such as shaking the iPhone to yeld random results. the content is updated throughg wi-fi, so the app is always up to date. The buttons are large and eaily accessible, and the interface is intuitive and easy to learn.

Leads to no results
Harry met Sally one night at a small gallery opening of a friend of his, who also happened to be a friend of hers from York University - what a small world! They hit it off quite well and started talking about Canadian Contemporary Art, a subject Sally is quite passionate about. She mentioned in passing an App called Art3 which is apparently quite good for browsing and discovering new artists. Michael plans on using this app to find an interesting gallery show of a Canadian Artist to take Sally to next time they are meeting.

Instead, remembering that the artist is a Native American, and deals mostly with sculpting characters from myths and Native American folkore, he tries searching the name of a work he may have heard Sally mention. Found it!
Having found the artist and the artwork he was looking for, he is very excited to discover that the app has a built-in Locate Work option. He will use it to find the gallery this artist will be featured in, in Toronto.
He has found exactly what he was looking for, and using the apps features discovered that Isaci Etidloie has an upcoming show at the AGO. He is convinced Sally will be very impressed with him. Best app ever.

Richard is commuting home on the bus while thinking about the assignment guidelines. He starts researching on Art3 Mobile App.

Richard opens the app and since he is looking for digital sculptures, his first thought was to look through his bookmarked favourites for inspiration. He browsed his favourites for 10 mins.
Browsing Work
After browsing his favourites for inspiration, he went off on a tangent and found a very interesting artist. He forgot to bookmark it, but he didnt. Suddenly the bus went over a pothole causing him to hit the home icon button.
Richard wasnt worried because he thought he bookmarked it. Richard continues to browse other artists, but he didnt find anything as interesting as the previous artist so he uses the pulls-down and clicked on favourites.
In his favourites list, the artist he was looking at earlier wasnt there. He decides to use the tap + hold back button to review his history. Richard found the artist and decided to base his assignment guideline on this artist.
