STEM: Paper Chain Challenge

You Will Need:

• one sheet of A4 office or construction paper for each person or group

• scissors

• sticky tape

• measuring tape

Instructions:

• Cut your sheet of paper into strips.

• Tape the ends of one paper strip together to form a loop.

• Thread the next strip of paper through the first loop and tape the ends together.

• Repeat with the rest of the strips to form a chain.

Something To Think About:

• Who can make the longest paper chain from one sheet of paper?

• How long can you make the paper chain if you have a 10 minute time limit?

• Can you make the chain longer without adding more paper?

• An A3 sheet of paper is twice as big as an A4 sheet. Will it make a paper chain twice
as long?
