Some people think that museums should be enjoyable places to

entertain people, while others believe that the purpose of museum is to

educate. Discuss both views and give your own opinion
While some people claim that museums should be serve as entertaining
revenue (1) venues, other concurs that the primary purpose of museums is
to educate. From my perspective, I am in agreement with the former.
There has been an ongoing discourse regarding the primary function
of museums in recent years. While it is argued that museums should
be mainly designed for recreational purposes, an opposing viewpoint
emphasizes museums’ educational values. From my perspective,
although I acknowledge the importance of museums in providing
educational values, I firmly believe that museums should function as
entertainment spaces to captivate and amuse visitors. Therefore, I
strongly concur with the former.
Admittedly, the primary function of the museum should be to educate. The
museums are essential institutions for preserving and documenting
information for future generations. In fact, museums hold a wealth of
knowledge because they serve as custodians for cultural heritage,
Museums provide a tangible connection to the past by safeguarding
artifacts, and documents that symbolize history (2). As a result, this
preservation aids people in deepening their understanding of different
periods and cultures, ultimately enhancing their understanding and
fostering empathy and critical thinking.
On the one hand, there are certain justifications why museums should
prioritize their role as centers of education and knowledge
dissemination. One notable reason is museums serve as guardians of
cultural heritage, safeguarding precious artifacts, artworks, and
historical objects that hold intrinsic value and significance. Through
meticulous preservation techniques, controlled environments, and
conservation efforts, museums ensure that these tangible remnants of
the past are protected from deterioration and decay, allowing them to
endure the test of time and remain accessible for the education so that
future generations can access and learn from the tangible evidence of
human history and creativity. Without this commitment to education
and preservation, much of our collective heritage could be lost or
misunderstood, diminishing the opportunity for future generations to
appreciate and learn from the past.
However, the incorporation of entertainment within museums can yield
certain noteworthy benefits. The first intrinsic advantage is that this
renders learning more engaging and accessible for individuals of all ages.
Indubitably, entertaining museums can appeal to a wider demographic,
including younger audiences and families, by incorporating interactive
elements such as Interactive exhibits, multimedia presentations, and
dynamic displays, proportionally (3), combined with a theme park-like
atmosphere or gamified exhibits, these museums transform the educational
experience into a captivating activity. This innovative approach not only
enriches the visitors' learning journey but also encourages attendance from
individuals who might not otherwise visit a museum. Consequently, the
influx of domestic and international tourists increases dramatically (4),
thereby, enhancing the venues for museums and improving their services
and facilities.
When museums integrate interactive elements such as hands-on
exhibits, multimedia presentations, and dynamic displays into their
offerings, it will allow visitors to actively participate in their learning
experiences rather than passively observing, making the educational
content more engaging and memorable. This broader appeal helps
museums connect with individuals who might otherwise be less
interested in traditional, passive displays. As a result, this not only
sustains but potentially increases the flow of visitors over time as
visitors who have enjoyable experiences are more likely to return and
recommend the museum to others
In conclusion, although the purpose of a museum is only for education, I
espouse the notion that their function as an entertaining revenue furnishes
greater benefits in light of the aforementioned reasons.
In conclusion, although the educational function of museums is
crucial, there is a strong case for prioritizing entertainment to
enhance visitor engagement.
FEEDBACK AND SUGGESTION:

(1) Revenue là doanh thu, “venues” mới là từ đúng chỉ địa điểm
