I remember summer mornings of pure silence, my siblings were asleep and the house
was motionless. Out of habit, I stumbled into the study room knowing my mom left me a paper
numbered 1 to 100. I mumbled the numbers one by one, and when I messed up I’d drag my
finger back to the start. This was how I fell in love with math. My passion has only grown from
then, due to my fascination and determination.
To me Math is more than a method, it’s a language. Once foreign symbols and formulas
have true meaning. To understand the application of math in real life you need to look beyond
the paper and pencil. I’m surprised daily when I can find math in simple tasks, such as
measuring the open space in my bedroom. I count to 5 to calm down, make number patterns for
fun, and get the best discounts at the corner store. The truth is that I’ve barely scratched the
surface of math’s host of theorems, equations, and postulates. I hope to learn more about
math’s real life applications, not only on a daily basis but as a career skill. At ___’s Academy for
Business and Finance, I hope to study the market and manage money while analyzing math in
realistic scenarios.
Having a passion for math didn’t mean I was good at it. I remember starting the first
marking period of 7th grade with a C+. I recognized my potential to do better, so I sat down with
my older brother and reviewed the material. Within the first 2 weeks, I decided to step away
from my bad habits, as well as solidifying a healthy schedule. Eventually I retired my older
brother and took advanced tutoring to grow my knowledge. I continued this process, and looking
at the present I’ll be taking Algebra 2, the most advanced class I have ever taken. Math became
more than a hobby for me, I spent most of my time teaching not only myself but my peers, and
staying after school for more challenges. This drive for success was part of the reason I excelled
in math.
During my time at ___, I’ve made several accomplishments that reflect both my
academic and personal values. My dedication has gotten me into the National Junior Honor
Society, Accelerated Math, Enriched classes, and onto the principal's list. Additionally, I’ve taken
positions in the student council for two years, as well as being a current student representative
for _______. During this time I’ve made marks in the _______ community as a whole, being part
of the ongoing drive to donate over 20,000 tabs to the Ronald McDonald House. This goes to
show my perseverance and my aim to be the very best I can be.
To conclude, I’m excited about the opportunity to be part of a community like ___’s which values
innovation, curiosity, and brilliance. I know ____________ offers an environment that will help
me grow best both academically and personally, and I’m excited to embrace the challenges and
opportunities that lie ahead.

^^^Part that I cut out (Is this important enough to add back in, It took up a lot of words)
Learning about algebra has taught me the applications of these once-foreign symbols
and formulas. Using math effectively in the real world demands innovative thinking and
creativity. I surprise myself daily when I can find math in simple tasks, such as measuring the
open space in my bedroom. Math's History is rich throughout the generations, from the
Mesopotamians to the Greek, bringing creativity and innovation together to bring forward our very
being. We’ve seen math aid thriving civilizations including the Mesopotamians, for the
construction/division of land, the Babylonians, for our modern time/place value system, And the
Greeks, by making the first basic rules of geometry and astronomy. Math’s beauty lies in the
simplicity of its basic operations and structure, as well as the many principles and rules that
we’ve derived from it. This doesn’t mean that you have to be a prodigy to be capable of using
and applying math. Anyone is capable of using math, I count to 5 to calm down, make number
patterns for fun, and get the best discounts at the corner store. These are just some examples
that give insight into what makes math so fascinating to me.
Every summer morning I’d wake up to pure silence, my parents had gone to work and
the house was motionless. Out of habit, I stumbled into my study area where I was promised to
find a sheet of paper numbered 1-100. I sat beneath the sun’s golden rays, mumbling the
numbers
one by one. That was how I fell in love with math. Even after 9 years, my passion for math has
seen no limits. This is due to my fascination and determination.
At ___, I’m eager to immerse myself in a community of students and teachers who share my
passion for learning. I'm particularly interested in ___’s Academy for Business and Finance,
where I can continue to develop my passion for math while learning life skills like reading the
